Sixteen From The American At 2018 NFL Scouting Combine

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sixteen American Athletic Conference football players are among the 336 prospects who will participate in the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine March 2-5 in Indianapolis.

Eight of The American’s 12 teams will have at least one participant at the combine in 2018. UCF, which was the only unbeaten team in FBS football last season, leads The American’s contingent with four players, while Memphis has three.

American Athletic Conference players have fared well at the combine in the conference’s brief history. UConn’s Byron Jones (12 feet, 3 inches in 2015) and Obi Melifonwu (11 feet, 9 inches in 2017) hold the combine’s top two all-time marks in the broad jump and are third and fourth all-time in the vertical jump. Bobby McCain of Memphis (3.82 seconds) is third all-time in the 20-yard shuttle drill.

The American had 18 players participate in the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine and saw 15 players, a record for the league, chosen in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 2018 NLF Draft will take place April 26-28.
