Cincinnati, Houston, Wichita State Earn NCAA Tournament Bids

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three American Athletic Conference men’s basketball programs – Cincinnati, Houston and Wichita State – were selected for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee announced on Sunday.

Cincinnati (30-4), the American regular-season and tournament champion, received a No. 2 seed in the South Region and will meet No. 15-seed Georgia State on Friday, March 16, in Nashville, Tenn., at 2 p.m. ET on TBS.

Wichita State (25-7) earned a No. 4 seed in the East and will face No. 13 seed Marshall, on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET on TNT.

Houston (26-7), the runner-up to Cincinnati in The American Championship, is the No. 6 seed in the West Region and will meet No. 11 San Diego State in Wichita, Kan., at 7:20 p.m. ET on TBS.

The three teams averaged a seed ranking of four, the best in the conference’s five-year history. Cincinnati’s No. 2 seed is the best for a team in the American Athletic Conference.
