Memphis’ Smith, UCF’s White Collect Weekly Softball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for the week of March 5-11.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Baylee Smith · Fr. · OF · Memphis
Baylee Smith finished this week going 12-for-17 at the plate with nine RBIs, a pair of doubles, and four stolen bases to lead Memphis with a .706 batting average. At the UofM Softball Tournament, Smith was even more productive with an 11-for-13 showing at the plate (.846 weekend batting average), with multi-hit games in all four games over the weekend. She finished the week with five runs scored, a pair of walks and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She also recorded three hits in three of the five games this week and in four of the five games she drove in multiple runs. Smith started in all five games this week in the outfield and has extended her hitting streak to a season-high nine games.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Alea White · So. · RHP · UCF
White appeared in six of the seven games for the Knights last week, tossing 26 total innings posting a 0.27 earned run average. She went 4-1 on the week striking out 22 batters and allowing only one earned run. She threw two complete games and posted another shutout in the win over Virginia Tech. White continues to lead the conference in wins (12) and shutouts.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Paige Luellen · R-Sr. · OF · Wichita State
Luellen hit .423 (6-for-14) and had 10 RBI in a 4-0 week for the Shockers. She collected three home runs this weekend; including one grand slam and a three-run walk off homer that moved her into first place in the Wichita State career RBI record books.
 
Lindsey Devitt · Jr. · INF · USF
Devitt had an incredible weekend at the plate batting .538 with a team-leading 1.077 slugging percentage. The junior collected two doubles, a triple and a home run with an impressive 10 RBI. She drove in five runs against Seton Hall on Wednesday, and now accounts for 26 of USF's RBI this season. Devitt had two 3-for-3 games at the plate and also had extra base hits in three games.
 
Shelby Estocado · Sr. · INF · Tulsa
Estocado hit .500 (6-for-12) with a triple and five RBIs to help lead Tulsa in four games last week. The senior had a hit in every game to extend her hitting streak to 15 games and she drove in a run in three of the team's four contests. Estocado's best outing of the week was against Green Bay when she went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a triple and three RBIs. She also drove in a run against Drake and UMKC.
 
Molly Smith · Sr. · RHP · Memphis
Smith threw her second no-hitter of the season in the win over Butler on March 9 and went 3-0 on the week with her second save in the win over Indiana State. She finished the week with 29 strikeouts to just four walks. Her ERA for the week was 0.67 in 21.0 innings pitched and she lowered her season ERA to 0.93. In the win against Tennessee State Wednesday, Smith finished with 13 strikeouts, marking the fourth time this season she’s recorded at least 10 strikeouts. The 13 K’s were just two shy of matching her career-high hurled in the season opener.
 
Cheyenne Eggens · Jr. · RHP · USF
Eggens had three appearances last week, going 2-0 in a pair of starts against Seton Hall and Villanova before sheearned her first save against Loyola Chicago on Saturday afternoon. The junior didn't allow a single run in three appearances, allowing just eight total hits while recording 11 strikeouts.
