PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sunday’s Aaron’s American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship game between No. 8 Cincinnati and No. 21 Houston delivered a 1.4/3 national household rating/share on CBS Sports.
The championship game, which was the highest-rated American Athletic Conference game in the five-year history of the league, saw top-seeded Cincinnati take a thrilling 56-55 victory over Houston, featuring seven lead changes and six ties before a Gary Clark free throw in the closing seconds proved to be the difference. Sunday’s championship game drew an 11.1/22 share in Cincinnati, with the Queen City ranking as the No. 1-rated market for the game.
Cincinnati and Houston are among the three American Athletic Conference teams selected to the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The Bearcats earned a No. 2 seed for the championship and will meet No. 15 Georgia State on Friday, March 16, at 2 p.m. ET on TBS. Houston, which received a No. 6 seed, takes on No. 11 San Diego State on Thursday, March 15, at 7:20 p.m. ET on TBS. Wichita State opens tournament play on Friday, where the fourth-seeded Shockers will play No. 13 Marshall at 1:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
