- Three American Athletic Conference teams appeared in this week's national polls with ECU, UCF and Wichita State earning spots on the lists. The conference gears up for 28 games to be played through the remainder of the week.
- ECU (13-4) has continued to receive national attention in multiple polls this week with its highest ranking coming from the USA Today Coaches' Poll at No. 17. The Pirates are coming off their first walk-off victory of the season after OF Andrew Henrickson's sacrifice fly to left field scored OF Dwanya Williams-Sutton in a 2-1 win over Elon on Wednesday. ECU is 3-1 in one-run games this season.
- USF (12-6) has won five consecutive games, most recently cruising past Jacksonville, 6-1. The Bulls have reached double-digit hits 10 times this year and lead the conference with 175 knocks. The Bulls are No. 1 in the country with 54 doubles, and are averaging a conference-best 6.9 runs per game. 3B David Villar has delivered nine doubles and is batting .413 this year.
- UConn (7-6) is off to a strong start to the week after knocking off No. 30 Coastal Carolina, 12-10 on Tuesday. The Huskies tallied 11 hits with three players registering a multi-hit game. 1B Chris Winkel hit a grand slam in the opening inning. The Huskies will look to carry the momentum into the weekend when they travel to No. 29 St. John's for a three-game series.
- UCF (14-4) held the nation's top winning streak with 13 straight victories, including a two-game series win over No. 1 Florida last week before falling to Miami (Fla.) on Wednesday. UCF appeared on all five national rankings lists this week, coming in at No. 19 on Baseball America's poll. The Knights have the fourth-best strikeout-to-walk ratio in the country at 3.69 and have stolen the most bases in the country with 57.
- Wichita State holds the top overall record in the conference at 12-3 and is ranked No. 20 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll. The Shockers have belted five grand slams this year with 3B Alec Bohm accounting for three of them.
