UCF’s Second Varsity 8 Earns Boat of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - UCF's Second Varsity 8 claimed the Knights' first Boat of the Week honor for the 2018 year on Monday as announced by the American Athletic Conference office.

The Knights secured five wins as a team at UCF's home event at Lake Pickett on Friday, competing against UConn, Jacksonville and Nova Southeastern. It was the Second Varsity 8 that claimed the widest margin of victory for the regatta. The grouping of Nicole Mayer, Alyssa Ramos, Ieva Medelinskaite, Lara Maule, Sydney Hays, Rusne Dziugyte, Shannon Perry, Leslie Lajoie and Rachel Rabinowitz finished more than 20 seconds ahead of the second-place UConn boat for the open-water victory. In addition, the Knights' time of 6:38.53 bettered the times of three boats in the Varsity 8 event.
