PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending March 25.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jared Triolo * So. * 3B * Houston
Triolo had five multi-hit games throughout the week to help Houston extend its winning streak to eight in a row, including a series sweep over Memphis. Triolo batted .524 with 11 hits, eight RBIs, four runs scored, two doubles and two home runs. The sophomore third baseman went errorless throughout the week, while averaging a .905 slugging percentage. He drove in a career-high four runs in Game 3 of the Memphis series.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Aaron Fletcher * Jr. * LHP * Houston
Fletcher registered his first career complete game shutout with a career-high nine strikeouts in a 3-0 Game 2 win over Memphis. He scattered four hits with no walks in the win to improve to 4-0 this year, lowering his ERA to 0.95. The complete game came in his sixth career start, as he allowed only one runner to reach third base.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Cam Alldred * Jr. * LHP * Cincinnati
Alldred guided the Bearcats to their first conference win of the season on Sunday, throwing seven shutout innings and scattering two hits and a walk in a 1-0 win against Tulane. He struck out a personal-best nine batters.
Brady Lloyd * Jr. * 2B * ECU
Lloyd tallied multiple hits in ECU’s Saturday and Sunday wins over UCF to help propel the team to its first conference series victory of the season. He led the Pirates with a .455 batting average (5-for-11), while driving in two runs and scoring four.
Trey Cumbie * Jr. * LHP * Houston
Cumbie tossed his second straight complete game shutout this year on Friday night in a 2-0 win over Memphis. The southpaw allowed three hits and one walk, while fanning eight batters. Cumbie has recorded 18 strikeouts through his last two complete games.
JD Dutka * Jr. * 2B * USF
Dutka led the Bulls through a 3-1 week, including a conference-opening series win over UConn. He had six runs, two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, while going 9-for-18. Dutka went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and a triple in a 12-5 Wednesday night win over North Florida to start off the week. He had a hit in every game of the UConn series, beginning conference play with a three-hit effort on Friday night, with two doubles.
Luke Ritter * Jr. * OF * Wichita State
Ritter led Wichita State through a 4-0 week, including a weekend series sweep over Furman. He batted .471 with eight hits, five runs scored, three RBIs, two doubles and a home run. He hit .500 in a 2-1 win over Oklahoma on Tuesday and had three hits, including two doubles in the series opener against Furman. Ritter recorded at least one hit in each game. The Shockers have won five in a row heading into this week’s action.
