Houston's Harm Named Women's Golf Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Houston junior Leonie Harm (Gerlingen, Germany) was named the American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after leading the Cougars at the LSU Tiger Classic.

The conference honor is the third in Harm’s career and first of the season.

After firing consecutive rounds of 74 on the Par 72 course at The University Club, Harm closed with a 72 (74-74-72 – 220) in humid, windy conditions, taking second place among 72 competitors.

The runner-up finish was Harm’s best of the season; in all but one tournament this year, the junior has posted top-20 results. Harm’s No. 37 ranking is the best among American women’s golfers.

As a team, the No. 26-ranked Cougars were second in the tournament, leading after both of the first two rounds (297-305-302 – 904) before LSU closed on the final day to take the win. The finish matched Houston’s best of the season.

Houston will be back in action April 2-3 at the Bruzzy Challenge from Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.
