American 3X3U National Championship Team Revealed

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The four-man team representing the American Athletic Conference at the inaugural 3x3U National Championship was announced on Wednesday afternoon. Wichita State’s Conner Frankamp and teammate Shaquille Morris will team up with ECU’s B.J. Tyson and UCF’s A.J. Davis in the competition, which runs Friday-Sunday in San Antonio at Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary's University.

The new event features 32 four-man teams representing each of the 32 Division I conferences and competing for a $100,000 prize pool. Only seniors who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility may take part.

Teams are guaranteed at least three games. Preliminary rounds (6-11 p.m. CT on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT Saturday) stream live on Twitter. Each of the eight pool winners advance to Sunday's quarterfinal round (1-2 p.m. CT on Twitter), and ESPN2 will carry the semifinals, third-place and championship games live from 2:30-4:30 p.m. CT.

Games are played in a half-court setting with each possession limited by a 12-second shot clock. Shots from inside the arc are worth one point and from beyond the arc are worth two.

Frankamp will also compete in the national 3-point championship this weekend. The senior set a school record earlier this year, connecting on at least one triple in 40 consecutive games. Despite playing just two-and-a-half seasons as a Shocker, Frankamp ended his career ranked sixth on the school's all-time three-point field goal chart (164)

Morris was a first team All-American Athletic Conference selection and first team NABC All-District 25. Controlling the low block, Morris averaged 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds with a league-best 51 blocks for a Wichita State team that ranked as high as No. 3 nationally during the regular season.

Davis earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a senior while averaging  12.2 points for the Knights. Davis’ inside-outside game was on display as he was the conference's fourth-leading rebounder (7.4). After the 3x3 championship, Davis will head to the Portsmouth Invitational.

Tyson is one of four players selected from the American Athletic Conference after finishing eighth in the league in scoring (14.9 ppg), third in free throw percentage (.828) and second in minutes played (36.4) this past season. Tyson concluded his ECU career as the school's fifth all-time leading scorer with 1,570 points, which is second-most in American Athletic Conference history.
