Wichita State 11, UConn 3
Behind five home runs and a seven run sixth inning, Wichita State took down UConn, 11-3, to open the second week of conference play in The American. Mackenzie Wright helped the Shocker bats by going 2-for-3 with four RBI while Bailey Lange pitched five innings, giving up one earned run and striking out seven including the 250th of her career. The Huskies received a clutch two-out RBI single by senior infielder Ryne Nakama in the third inning - her first runs batted in this season - while junior pitcher Jill Stockley (6-9) turned in 5.2 innings in the circle. Five different players recorded hits for UConn, including redshirt freshman Olivia Sappington, who provided an RBI single to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the first inning off of Lange.
USF 4, Memphis 1
Two USF home runs powered the Bulls to a 4-1 win over Memphis Thursday night as USF remains undefeated in The American. The Tigers were first to get on the board with an RBI single down the left field line in the first inning. Mia Fung was quick to find the equalizer with a shot over the fence at left center, her sixth home run of the season. Astin Donovan powered USF to a 3-run fifth inning with a home run over the left field fence, while pitcher Georgina Corrick sent down an impressive 10 batters in her ninth win of the season and walked two. The Tigers took an early lead over the visiting Bulls due to back-to-back hits by Baylee Smith and Ashley Threatt in the bottom of the first inning before the Bulls' offense took over.
UCF 3, Houston 0
Alea White recorded her 17th win and sixth shutout of the season as UCF blanked Houston, 3-0 Thursday evening to give the Knights their fifth straight win. White allowed only three hits while striking out three and walking a pair in the win. Hayley Bejarano went 2-for-3, while Denali Schappacher went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Aubrey Johnson added a hit and an RBI for the Knights in the series opener. Houston's Lindsey Stewart, Maya Thomas and Tierrah Williams recorded base hits, respectively. Stewart (bunt) and Thomas both singled in the infield, while Williams hit a pinch-hit double into the right-center gap in the bottom of the seventh.
Tulsa 5, ECU 0
Tulsa scored five runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and Emily Watson struck out 11 batters as the Golden Hurricane captured a 5-0 win in game one of the three-game series against the East Carolina Pirates Thursday night. Both teams' bats were pretty quiet until Tulsa's plate appearance in the 5th inning. Rylie Spell's home run over the outstretched glove of centerfielder Tyler King came with one out in the bottom of the inning gave the Hurricane a 1-0 lead before Morgan Neal's to-run double added to the lead. The final two runs came on another two-run double, this time by Tori Stafford.
