Highlights
Tulsa 11, UT Arlington 3; Tulsa 9, Nicholls 6
Shelby Estocado slugged a pair of two-run homers and Tulsa took two more wins on the second day of the North Texas Invitational with an 11-3 victory over UT Arlington followed by a 9-6, eight-inning triumph against Nicholls State. Estocado went 5-for-9 (.556) on the day, while Morgan Neal also drove in four runs for the Golden Hurricane, who have won eight of its last nine games. Julia Hollingsworth hit a pair of triples and drove in three runs, while Emily Watson and Haley Meinen picked up wins in the circle.
In the opener, the Mavs jumped ahead 2-0 with a run in each of the first two innings before the Tulsa offense got rolling. TU quickly erased the deficit with a three-run bottom of the second and never looked back on its way to the 11-3 run-rule win. TU raced out to a 4-0 lead on the Colonels, thanks in part to a pair of triples from Hollingsworth. The junior led off the game with a triple to center field and came around on Neal's sacrifice fly. The Hurricane then plated three runs in the top of the second, two of which came around to score on another Hollingsworth three-bagger. Neal ripped a double down the right-field line to again bring Hollingsworth home. However, Nicholls State scored three in the bottom of the second and tied the score with another run in the fourth. Tulsa again took the lead in the fifth as Kosmata plated Estocado with a grounder and Stafford made it 6-4 when she scored on a wild pitch. The Colonels came back with a run in the bottom of the panel and tied it up in the sixth. Neither team could score in the seventh to send the game to extra innings. In the eighth, TU scored three runs on three hits to take the lead for good. Playing with the international tie-breaker rule, Mikayla Whitten sent a one-out RBI single back up the middle for a 7-6 advantage. Meinen and Hollingsworth then each singled to bring runs to the plate and make it 9-6.

The Tigers used a five-run third inning against Bradley to gain momentum before pushing the game out of reach with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to set the 10-3 final. Kyler Trosclair Klatt collected three hits and drove in a career-high four RBI. In game two, Memphis overcame a two-run deficit in the fifth inning. Wichita State split the doubleheader on day one of a three game series with the Nebraska in Lincoln. The Shockers took game one, 6-2, behind a three-run homer from Madison Perrigan before falling in game two, 3-1. Bailey Lange started in the circle, knocking down the Huskers in order in the first. A looking and swinging strikeout sandwiched a Ryleigh Buck putout to end the inning. In the second, a two-out error got Asea Webber to first with Bailee Nickerson drawing a walk but a strikeout kept the Shockers off the scoreboard. The Huskers, receiving votes in the USA Today/NCFA poll, took advantage in the bottom half with a leadoff triple and error getting runners on base. Wichita State nearly got out the inning undamaged but a two-out two-strike single down the right line got two Huskers home. A diving stop from Derrico the defensive highlight to keep Nebraska from getting on base. In the fourth Derrico showed her worth at the plate; a 230 yard solo homer gave the Shockers a 1-0 lead. Luellen then continued her hot streak of at-bats with a single through the middle, getting round to third through a sac bunt and groundout, but a foul out stopped Wichita State from increasing the lead. In the bottom half the Nebraska bats came alive with two Wichita State errors helping their cause. #15 Cal 6, ECU 4; James Madison 9, ECU 0
The ECU softball team fell twice Saturday at the Aloha Tournament in Honolulu to No. 15 California and (RV) JMU by respective 6-4 and 9-0 scores. In game one, a leadoff walk and three-base throwing error plagued the Pirates to start the top of the second, allowing the Bears to grab a 1-0 lead. More defensive trouble allowed Cal to plate four more unearned runs in the second inning to pull ahead 5-0. The Bears moved further in front in the top of the third, drawing a bases-loaded walk with two outs to extend the advantage to 6-0. ECU broke onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the third via a RBI groundout off the bat of redshirt sophomore infielder Tate McClellan. The Pirates then drew even closer in the bottom of the sixth, putting runners on the corners with one out. Freshman catcher Anna Epling delivered with a RBI single up the middle to slice the Cal lead to 6-2. The Bears threatened to break the game open in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with no outs on the back of three walks. However, freshman RHP Erin Poepping put out the fire with a lineout, groundout and looking strikeout to keep the Pirate deficit to four runs. ECU made one last push in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with one out. Senior infielder Meredith Burroughs drove in a run with an infield single and junior outfielder Ashley Weingartz recorded a RBI on a fielder's choice to make it a two-run contest. With two runners on and the potential winning run at the plate, a strikeout ended the game.
JMU took advantage of a costly ECU error in the top of the second to score three runs (one earned) and take an early 3-0 lead. The Dukes scored three runs each in the fourth and sixth innings to cruise to the six-inning win.
