Highlights
USF and Tulane each clinched a weekend series on Sunday, as three teams remained tied for the top spot in American Athletic Conference baseball standings after Week 4 of conference play. It marks the third straight week in which three teams share the No. 1 spot in the league. Despite dropping a series, Cincinnati, No. 20 Wichita State and Houston each earned a key series finale win.

- Cincinnati avoided the weekend sweep, scoring seven runs in the final two innings to overcome a four-run deficit in a 9-6 Game 3 win at UCF. Right handers Jared Yoakam and Clayton Colvin came out of the bullpen for the Bearcats and kept UCF scoreless, scattering three hits through the final three innings. Shortstop Manny Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a pair of two-run home runs for four RBIs and three runs scored. Outfielder Tyler Osik continued a strong weekend performance, going 4-for-4 with a two-run homer.

- USF third baseman David Villar hit a solo home run in the seventh inning that ended up being the game-winner, as the Bulls defeated No. 7 ECU in a series with a 5-4 Game 3 win. Three USF arms out of the bullpen held the Pirates to one run through the final 5.2 innings.

- Houston and Tulane split a doubleheader that was played due to inclement weather in the area on Saturday. Tulane’s pitching staff allowed just two hits through a 2-0 seven-inning shutout to clinch the series against Houston in Game 2. Jonathon Artigues hit an RBI single in the third inning, while Trevor Jensen scored on a throwing error in the sixth inning for the only two runs of the game. Down by two in the seventh inning, Houston scored the final five of six runs to clinch the series finale over Tulane, 5-3. Tied at 3-3 in the ninth inning, Nick Slaughter came in as a pinch hitter and drove in the game-winning runs on a single to left field.

- Wichita State’s offense surged in Game 3, as the Shockers collected 15 runs on 16 hits to take the series finale. Outfielder Luke Ritter and first baseman Greyson Jenista combined for six hits, five RBIs and four runs scored. Wichita State used a five-run spurt in the opening frame before tacking on six more runs in the seventh inning.
