PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track and field honors for the week ending April 14.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Davon DeMoss * Jr. * Memphis * Jackson, Tenn.
DeMoss went undefeated at the Joe Walker Invitational, capturing four first-place finishes for the first time in his career. The junior sprinter won the 100-meter dash at 10.41 seconds and the 200-meter dash at 21.16. He returned to the track twice to run the second leg in both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays to help pace the Tigers to a pair of victories. DeMoss ran all four events at the same meet for the first time in his career, as he ranks in The American’s top five in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes.

Roberts tied the fastest 100-meter hurdles time in The American this season after clocking 13.45 seconds at the Aggie Invitational in her hometown of Greensboro, N.C. The senior sprinter moved up to ranking No. 28 in the NCAA East region and No. 39 in the nation. He mark serves as the third-fastest 100-meter time in Pirates history.

True had a record-setting performance in the javelin throw at the K.T. Woodman Classic last Friday, placing first with his conference-leading throw that traveled 72.06 meters (236-5). His distance set the meet record and is the sixth-best in the NCAA this season. It ranks fourth in Shocker history.

Saida Burns-Moore * Jr. * Memphis * Bronx, N.Y.
Burns-Moore leaped to two first place finishes at the Joe Walker Invitational, winning the high jump and triple jump. Her high jump clearance of 1.79 meters (5-10.5) broke an 11-year-old school record and ranks No. 13 in the NCAA this year. She swept both events for the first time and ranks in The American’s top three in both events.
