UConn 2, Central Connecticut 1
Junior pitcher Jill Stockley matched a career-high with seven strikeouts on Wednesday afternoon, as the UConn softball team edged Central Connecticut State, 2-1, at Burrill Family Field in midweek action. The Huskies (16-28) received multi-hit games from freshman Briana Marcelino and sophomore Carli Cutler, while Stockley took care of the rest against the Blue Devils (14-23). She allowed just one run on four hits in the complete-game effort. Both teams went scoreless in the final four innings of the game, as Stockley dueled with CCSU starter Peyton Silverman – who allowed one earned run (two total) on seven hits in six innings of work for the Blue Devils. After CCSU tied the game in the top of the third, UConn rallied in the bottom half to load the bases for sophomore Kiwi McDaniel – who earned an RBI walk to score junior Kelli Bates and give the Huskies a permanent advantage. In the first inning, Cutler recorded the first of her two hits with an RBI single to right field, plating Marcelino from second to make it 1-0. Marcelino reached base after smacking her team-leading 10th double of the season and fourth in the last three games.

North Carolina 4, ECU 3
ECU took the lead in the fifth inning Wednesday night in Chapel Hill, but North Carolina rallied with three unanswered runs to capture a 4-3 non-conference victory inside Anderson Stadium. ECU tied the contest in the top of the fourth with two outs when redshirt sophomore Tate McClellan smashed a 1-2 offering over the right center field fence. After keeping the Tar Heels off of the board in the bottom of the fourth, the Pirates vaulted into the lead in the top of the fifth. With runners at the corners and two outs, freshman Tyler King ripped a double into the gap in right center to score a pair and give ECU a 3-1 advantage. North Carolina rallied in the bottom of the fifth for two runs thanks in large part to a pair of Pirate errors and knotted the score at three before Brittany Pickett provided the winning tally with a solo home run to lead off the home half of the sixth. The Pirates got a runner aboard in the top of the seventh before strikeout and lineout ended the contest.

Memphis 5, Murray State 4
A two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning helped propel the University of Memphis softball team to a 5-4 victory over Murray State Wednesday evening. Memphis improves to 31-15 on the year with conference foe UConn coming up this weekend. The Tigers saw themselves down early after a two-run first inning by the Racers. In the bottom half of the second, however, Memphis put together its first of two, two-out rallies to tie up the contest at 2-2. Two more runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning put Murray State back on top of the Tigers. Again, with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Memphis had an answer. With the bases loaded, Baylee Smith delivered the game-winning hit, a single up the middle, to score two to put Memphis on top. Delaney Smith drove in the first run of the inning with her team-leading fourth hit of the night. Molly Smith came in relief for the Tigers and earned her 19th victory of the season. She allowed just two hits in 2.2 innings of work while striking out two.

Wichita State 9, Oklahoma State 6
Behind four home runs and eight strikeouts, the Wichita State softball team defeated #19/24 Oklahoma State, 9-6, at Wilkins Stadium to sweep the series over the Cowgirls and earn their second win over a ranked opponent this season in front of the largest home crowd this season (650). In the bottom half of the first Wichita State took the lead. Laurie Derrico hit a soft single just over the shortstop into left center to get Mackenzie Wright home and give the Shockers an early 1-0 lead. Wichita State made it 5-0 in the second following a three-run homer by Asea Webber. After Oklahoma State plated a pair in the top of the third, Wichita State extended the lead once more, this time on a homer by Bailee Nickerson. In the bottom of the fifth Wichita State hit back-to-back home runs to push the lead back to five at 9-4. Bailey Lange crushed one over right center with Madison Perrigan knocking one over the right field fence, the fourth and sixth of the season for each. Lange got the win in her 12th complete game of the year to move to 13-10.
