PROVIDENCE, R.I. – UCF sophomore Bobby Bai was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after collecting medalist honors at the weather-shortened Boilermaker Invitational.
 
Playing on the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind., Bai opened the tournament with round of 70 and 69 to enter the final round at 5-under par and owning a one-shot lead. In his second round, Bai recorded eight birdies and an eagle.
 
Over the two rounds, Bai blistered the Kampen Course’s par 5’s, playing them in 6-under par to lead the field with a 4.25 scoring average.
 
Its regular season concluded, UCF will next compete at the American Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship presented by Visit St. Pete Clearwater on April 22-24. The championship will be contested at the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Golf Club. The American Digital Network will have live coverage of the final round of the championship, beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. ET.

Five American Athletic Conference squads are ranked in the Golfstat top 100 entering the conference championship – USF (21), Houston (58), UCF (59), ECU (72) and SMU (86) … USF finished as the runner-up at the Old Waverly Intercollegiate, where its 4-over team score was bested only by No. 10 LSU’s 9-under score … Carlos Correa paced the Bulls, finishing fifth at 2-under par … Also competing at the Old Waverly, Memphis moved up four spots on the final day, as Brad Bawden finished in a tie for eighth overall … At the Clemson Invitational, UConn and SMU took fourth and fifth, respectively … A closing 70 put UConn’s Drake Hull into a tie for fifth overall, while Daniel Connolly led the Mustangs with tie for ninth at 3-over par … Blake Taylor finished at 9-under par at the Stitch Intercollegiate to lead ECU … Taylor’s three under-par rounds (72-65-70) marked the second time in his career with such an effort … Cincinnati finished in a tie for sixth at the Boilermaker Invitational … Three shots separated all five Bearcats, with Austin Squires and Jake Fox both coming in at 2-over par … Gage Ihrig led Wichita State at the Boilermaker Invitational, turning in two rounds at 7-over par.
