PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Houston sprinter Elijah Hall has been named to the Men’s Mid-Outdoor Watch List for The Bowerman, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Thursday.
The Bowerman, NCAA Track & Field’s most prestigious award, is granted to the top men’s and women’s track & field athlete in a given year. The Bowerman watch list is updated throughout the season to reflect athletes’ performances from week to week.
Hall found himself on the watch post-indoor watch list on March 15, after winning both the 60-and 20-meter dashes at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. He is the first American Athletic Conference athlete to win two events at the national championships, as he became just the fourth sprinter in NCAA history to win both the 60-and 200-meter dash championships in the same season. Hall scored 20 points for the Cougars in the championship meet, which would have placed him 10th overall in the team standings by himself.
Hall has carried his success into the outdoor slate, where he currently holds the third-fastest time in the NCAA in the 200-meter dash this season. Hall won the 200m at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in 20.11 and has been a member of each of the team’s 4x100-meter relay squads that have run 38.92 and 38.95 to rank third and fourth in the NCAA, respectively.
