Campbell 8, ECU 3
ECU struck quickly in the top of the first. Freshman Tyler King singled on the infield before stealing second and moving to third on a Campbell error. Classmate Ashleigh Inae plated her on a RBI groundout to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. With two outs, redshirt sophomore Tate McClellan singled up the middle and scored on a RBI double by redshirt senior Alex Mycek as ECU took a 2-0 lead into the home half of the inning. The Camels answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring five runs on six hits and a pair of Pirate errors to grab a 5-2 advantage. ECU pulled a run back on a Inae RBI single in the top of the fourth, but Campbell responded with a three-run home run off the bat of Elizabeth McMurray to claim an 8-3 lead. The teams went scoreless in the final three innings.
Houston 3, Texas 1
The University of Houston Softball team defeated Texas, 3-1, in its 12th Annual Striking Out Breast Cancer Game on Tuesday night at Cougar Softball Stadium. Sophomore first baseman Kelli Montgomery provided all the offense needed in the win with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first. The long ball was the first of her career. In the circle, junior Savannah Heebner improved to 15-4. Heebner scattered four hits and recorded one walk and four strikeouts in a complete-game effort. After Texas scored one run in the opening frame, sophomore second baseman Arielle James doubled into the right-center gap to open the bottom of the first. With two outs, sophomore third baseman Sarah Queen drew a walk, and Montgomery cleared the bases with a blast down the left-field line for what would hold on to be the 3-1 final.
