ECU 4, Memphis 1
ECU's Whitney Sanford took a no-hitter into the sixth inning Sunday afternoon, propelling the Pirates to a 4-1 victory over Memphis in the teams' American Athletic Conference series finale at the ECU Softball Stadium. Alex Mycek connected on a two-run homer to give the Pirates to the advantage in the bottom of the first before ECU added to its lead in the bottom of the third inning on Karlie Smith's two-out RBI single. Back-to-back walks combined with a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly by Brooke Lee drove in the lone Tiger run in the fourth, but Sanford shut Memphis down the rest of the way. Smith tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run to provide the final margin of victory for ECU. Memphis' Delaney Smith extended her hitting streak to a team-high six games with a hit in the sixth inning, the only base hit of the afternoon for the Tigers.
USF 3, Houston 2; USF 7, Houston 4
USF earned its series win over Houston with a 3-run home run by Brooke Hartman in game two, and a 5-run fourth inning in game three on Sunday morning. USF and Houston started their second game of the series on Saturday evening, but had to suspend the game due to weather. Before the delay, Houston took a 2-0 lead through the bottom of the fourth. The teams resumed play Sunday morning, and the Bulls were ready to rally. When play resumed Sunday in the sixth, Astin Donovan recorded her 200th hit with a blooper over the shortstop, and Lindsey Devitt got on base via a fielder's choice before Brooke Hartman gave USF a 3-2 lead with her three-run homer. Georgina Corrick came in the fifth inning following the delay and earned her 10th win of the season when she held off the Cougars, allowing just one hit and not a single walk in three innings.
In the series finale, USF was once again down by two to Houston, but Amber Atkinson kicked off the Bulls comeback in the second inning with a solo home run. Mia Fung hit an RBI single to tie up the game, and the teams remained tied until the bottom of the fourth. USF surged ahead with a five-run fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI single by Lauren Evans and a two-run double by Donova. The Cougars would attempt a rally in the sixth inning, tacking on two more runs, but USF held them in the seventh to earn the win. Houston's Arielle James went 5-for-8 between the two games, including going 3-for-4 with three RBI in the finale.
UConn 5, UCF 1
Led by a three-hit game from Briana Marcelino and an offensive explosion that resulted in three home runs, UConn earned its first American Athletic Conference series win of the season with a 5-1 victory over UCF on Sunday at Burrill Family Field. The Huskies took the rubber match from the Knights, as Katie Koshes picked up her second win in as many days with eight strikeouts in her complete-game performance. Three home runs - hit by Carli Cutler and Chloe Kerns, as well as Olivia Sappington - helped spark the UConn offense against UCF starter Alea White in the weekend finale. Megan Greenwell went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base for the Knights, while Aubrey Johnson and Kyra Klarkowski each recorded a hit for UCF.
Wichita State 14, Tulsa 5; Tulsa 3, Wichita State 2
Wichita State and Tulsa split a doubleheader on Sunday, with the Shockers run-ruling the Golden Hurricane in game one, 14-5, before Tulsa took game two, 3-2. In the opener, the Shockers took an arly three-run lead in the first, highlighted by Bailee Nickerson's two-run homer, before extending the lead to four via Madison Perrigan's solo homer in the second which she followed up with an RBI double in the third. After Tulsa notched four runs in the top of the fourth, Wichita State responded with nine runs in the bottom of the frame, including Laurie Derrico's two-run homer and a solo home run by Ryleigh Buck.
In game two, the Shockers took the lead with a pair of runs in the second inning on solo homers from Buck and Luellen and held the advantage until the seventh when Tulsa made its comeback. After a leadoff walk in the seventh, Shannon Hughes' two-run homer tied the game up before Julia Hollingsworth singled with two outs and stole second base, setting herself up to score on a Wichita State error on a ball put in play by Shelby Estocado. The Shockers put runners on first and third in the bottom of the inning with one out but were unable to push across the tying run.
