Highlights
After No. 22 UConn edged No. 9 ECU, 3-2, No. 20 Houston captured the sole regular season title on Thursday. The Cougars will be seeded No. 1 in The American’s baseball championship from May 22-27, while the rest of the league will continue battling for the remaining top seeds. Cincinnati also took down a ranked opponent, knocking off No. 22 USF, as the Cougars opened their conference bye weekend with a win in nonconference play against Southeastern Louisiana. Due to inclement weather, four conference doubleheaders will be played tomorrow.

The Huskies received stellar pitching from the trio of Mason Feole, Jake Wallace and P.J. Poulin in their one-run win over the Pirates. Feole picked up his eighth win of the year with a 6.1 inning performance that included just one earned run allowed and four punch-outs. Feole eclipsed the 100-strikeout mark for the first time in his career and extends the Huskies streak to four-straight seasons with at least one 100-strikeout pitcher. UConn provided offense in the second with RBI singles from Chris Winkel and John Toppa to make it 2-1. Troy Stefanski added an RBI ground out in the fifth to push the UConn lead to two. Poulin earned his conference-leading 14th save of the year to tie a UConn single-season record. The series will be decided in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. ET in Storrs, Conn.

Houston began its nonconference weekend series finale with a 6-3 win at Southeastern Louisiana. Starter Trey Cumbie struck out eight and allowed just one earned run on five hits and three walks through 6.1 innings for the win, his sixth, to move to 6-3 on the season. Houston used a strong start, scoring four runs in the first three innings to take an early lead. The Cougars and Lions will wrap up their two-game series at 7 p.m. ET Friday.

Cincinnati posted a four-run eighth inning to take down USF 10-7. The loudest hit of the night came with bases loaded with two outs in the eighth. Eric Santiago ripped a bases-clearing triple to right center to increase UC's lead from one run to four. For the second game in a row, every Bearcat starter contributed either a hit or a RBI. Kyle Mottice was a perfect 4-for-4 on the night. Cincinnati and USF will play a doubleheader starting at Noon tomorrow.
