ECU, UCONN TO PLAY FOR CONFERENCE TITLE SATURDAY

CLEARWATER, Fla. –  ECU and UConn will meet for the American Athletic Conference baseball title Saturday after both teams won semifinal matchups Friday morning. The Pirates scored a 12-1 win against Houston in seven innings at Robin Roberts Field, while the Huskies walked off with a 3-2 win against USF at Spectrum Field.
 
ECU will play for The American title for the third time in four years as the Pirates look to win the tournament for the second time. UConn is in the final for the second time after the Huskies claimed the 2016 title.
 
ECU and UConn tied for third place in The American standings after the teams met in the final conference series of the regular season. UConn took two of three against ECU in their regular-season series that was played in Connecticut, and all three were decided by three runs or fewer.
 
Saturday’s final will begin at 10 a.m. ET – a change from the originally scheduled date of Sunday, May 27. Live coverage will be on the American Digital Network Plus, available through the Facebook platform. A subscription to Facebook is not required to view the game.
