Cincinnati clinched a big road series at Wichita State, while No. 12 ECU completed a weekend sweep at Tulane on Sunday. Memphis took down No. 19 UConn and No. 19 Houston held off UCF to remain at the top of The American’s standings for a sixth-straight week.

ECU completed a weekend sweep of Tulane with a 6-1 win on Sunday. The Pirates improve to 17-2 on the road, winning nine-straight away contests. The pitching staff tossed eight straight shutout frames after surrendering one run in the opening inning. Outfielder Bryant Packard went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while first baseman Spencer Brickhouse launched a two-run homer in the first inning. The weekend sweep pushed the Pirates into a three-way tie for second place in conference standings with UConn and USF, as each team shares an 11-7 conference record.

Cincinnati picked up a big series win at Wichita State with a 5-1 Game 3 win behind tremendous performances on the mound. Starter Cam Alldred enjoyed a career-high 10 strikeouts through 7.0 innings. He allowed just one run and three hits in the effort and only walked two batters. Reliever Garrett Schoenle followed and earned the save, through the final two shutout innings. Schoenle did not allow a hit and had two strikeouts.  The Bearcats scored on a balk in the fifth inning to tie the game, then moved ahead for good on a passed ball in the sixth inning. Outfielder Treg Haberkorn then smashed a ball over the right field wall in the ninth inning for a three-run homerun to give the Bearcats some insurance with a 5-1 lead.

Memphis battled back in Game 3 of its series with No. 19 UConn to avoid a sweep, as shortstop Alec Trela cranked a three-run homer in the fifth inning on the way to a 4-3 win. The Tigers’ starter Hunter Smith scattered three runs on five hits, while fanning seven Huskies through 8.1 innings to clinch the win. Riley Cabral picked up the save after closing-out the game.

Houston struck early, scoring six runs in the first three innings and held on for a Game 3 win against UCF on senior day. With the win, the Cougars remain atop the league’s standings for a sixth straight week, three games ahead of second place with a 14-7 record. Houston’s pitching staff kept the Knights scoreless through the final seven innings. Outfielder Tyler Bielamowicz led the Cougars with three hits.
