The American’s outdoor track and field programs competed in their final regular season meets from May 4-for final tune ups before the conference’s championships in Cincinnati from May 11-13.

Houston’s top performance of the day at the Tom Tellez Invite came on the long jump runway, when Jared Kerr posted the fifth-best mark in program history. On his third attempt, Kerr traveled 26-0.75 (7.94m) to finish second overall and first among college athletes in the competition. That mark moves Kerr to No. 10 in the NCAA this season. Track events opened with a win in the 4x100-meter relay for the women’s team. The Cougars finished the 400-meter relay in 45.98 to take the gold. Naomi Taylor won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.71, and Birexus Hawkins won the 400-meter hurdles in her season-debut in the event.

With rain falling for much of the day, the Bearcats turned in 13 personal-best marks at the Kentucky Relays with three of those being added to the program's all-time Top 10 ledger, including Alexis Anton in the 1,500m and Rachel Coghill in the pole vault for the women and Sam Meece in the discus for the men. Overall, the Bearcats found a way to claim six victories on the day with the men and women each collecting three of those gold medals.

Tulane junior Emmanuel Rotich won the 3000m steeplechase and sophomore Raymond Kibet finished first in the 400m race at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Thursday night. Rotich took first place in the 3000m steeplechase with a season-best time of 8:40.66, improving five seconds from his first performance in the event earlier this season. Kibet earned Tulane's first top finish of the night. The sophomore notched a first-place finish in the 400m race, coming across the line with a time of 47.70.

Robert Tully, Carsyn Spurgeon and Hutch Helbig led the Golden Hurricane at the Arkansas Twilight meet that concluded late Friday night. The Tulsa track and field team compiled 12 Top-5 finishes. Tully ran the 800-meters in a time of 1:49.98 and earned a first-place finish.

Wichita State wrapped up the 2018 regular season setting multiple personal records and one school record at the Shocker Open Friday night. Multiple athletes recorded personal best, a total of 23 personal best were set and one school record. Kelsey Slawson highlighted the day bettering her school record winning the shot put with a mark of 15.56m/51-0.75. Zack Penrod won the 1500m with the school's fifth fastest time of 3:45.41, which currently puts him No. 2 in The American Athletic Conference.
