Highlights
Memphis 1, Utah Valley 0
Memphis' men's soccer team avoids giving up a goal in the final minute, and leaves Omaha with a win, defeating the Wolverines of Utah Valley on Sunday by a 1-0 score.
Utah Valley swung the momentum in its favor for a good chunk of the first half, maintaining possession and taking multiple shots. The Tiger defense, however, kept the ball out of the net, keeping the game scoreless.
In the 24th minute, everything changed. After Utah Valley committed a foul, Memphis took control. Alexandros Ierides launched a shot that was blocked by a Wolverine defender, but Chris Mikus collected possession in the six-yard box and punched it home. The goal was Mikus' second of the season.
Utah Valley tried to make a mark late, taking two shots in the final minute, but one was blocked by a defender, and the second shot was saved by Tyler Hofmann, who ended the day with three saves. Hofmann recorded his second shutout of the season.
USF 4, FAU 1
The USF men's soccer team defeated FAU 4-1, led by a decisive two-goal effort from sophomore Alex Zis in front of more than 700 fans at Corbett Stadium on Monday night.
Trey Jackson opened the scoring effort in the 34th minute with his first goal of the season. Off an assist from Emilio Ycaza, Jackson curled in a shot into the upper-left corner of the net and over the fingertips of the Owls' goalkeeper.
It didn't take the Bulls long to double their lead, as Henrique Gallina, tight roped the byline and squared the ball onto the feet of Avionne Flanagan, whose deflected shot found the back of the net. The goal is Flanagan's first of the season, and second of his career. Gallina's assist is a first for the freshman.
Zis provided the finishing touches on the match, as he scored off two set pieces---a free-kick right on the edge of the box and a penalty kick. Zis' penalty kick came after a foul on a Flanagan one-man fast break. Zis took the free-kick right on the edge of the box and got up over the wall and into the bottom-left corner past the keeper.
UCF 3, FIU 1
The Knights’ offense was in full throttle Tuesday night at the FIU Soccer Complex picking up a 3-1 road win in Miami against the Panthers.
Cal Jennings showed up to work again netting two more goals and an assist as he continues to prove to be one of the best forwards in collegiate soccer.
Senior Zachary Waitman scored his first goal of the season when he left his feet to head in the ball after a deflection off the FIU keeper.
UCF (4-1-1) picked up 10 points in the win after collecting three goals and four assists to FIU’s (1-4) three. The Knights now have 36 total points on the season.
The Black and Gold held the advantage in total shots (17-12), while Yannik Oettl recorded three saves in his sixth straight start to the season. Oettl is also 4-1-1 during the 2018 campaign and picked up his first career assist in the victory.

The Tulsa men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Saint Louis on Tuesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 3-2-1 on the season, while SLU moved to 2-1-2 overall.
