Signature Wins Emphasize Week Five Awards



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference women’s soccer week five schedule was highlighted by some impressive performances in strong wins against top competition as the league wrapped nonconference play. All four top individual award winners garner their first weekly accolade of the season.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Jill Vetere * Sr. * F * Cincinnati

Vetere led the Bearcats to a 2-0 week and came up big when Cincinnati needed her most. She set up the game-winning goal in a come-from-behind, overtime win against Lipscomb and scored the equalizer in an impressive victory over LSU for Cincinnati’s second comeback win. With the two victories, the Bearcats are now undefeated in 18-straight home matches.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Stasia Mallin * Jr. * D * Memphis

Mallin anchored a defensive effort that posted two shutouts last week for Memphis. The junior defender also added an assist in each game, including a set up on the game-winning score against Ole Miss. Mallin played all 180 minutes of the two clean sheets, the seventh and eighth of the year for the Tigers.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Madison Less * So. * Cincinnati

Less becomes the second-straight Bearcat to earn Goalkeeper of the week as she went 2-0 on the week with wins over Lipscomb and LSU. She came on in relief after halftime in the first game of the week and made four saves before added eight more stops in a complete game effort against LSU.
 
Rookie of the Week
Kristen Scott * Fr. * F * UCF

Scott scored twice in a 2-1 week for the Knights that featured in-state wins over Florida and Stetson. She netted her second collegiate goal against George Mason and followed it with another score against the Hatters. She put four of her seven shots on goal.
 
Weekly Honor Roll

Scored the game-winning goal in 2-1, come-from-behind victory against LSU
Catie Brown * Sr. * GK * SMU
Made eight saves and did not allow a goal over two games including a shutout of Northern Colorado
Serena Dolan * Jr. * M * Memphis
Scored in each game of a 2-0 week with road wins over Arkansas State and Ole Miss
Elizabeth Moberg * So. * GK * Memphis
Posted two shutout victories with two saves against Ole Miss
Stefanie Sanders * So. * F * UCF
Scored four goals with an assist on the week including a hat trick against Stetson
