Men's Soccer Weekly Awards Announced for Week 2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 2.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Cal Jennings * Jr. * F * UCF

Jennings netted The American’s first hat trick of the season and the first of his career on Friday, lifting the Knights to a 4-1 victory over Liberty. The junior buried the first two scores of the game within the first 15 minutes of action and then added the final goal. In UCF’s draw with No. 17 Virginia Tech on Sunday, Jennings collected an assist while firing five shots to finish with seven points on the week.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Pierre Cayet * So. * D * Temple
Cayet assisted on the game-winning goal to help lift Temple to its first win of the season – a 1-0 victory over No. 25 Old Dominion at the ODU Soccer Classic. The Owls netted the score while playing a man down. In Temple’s 1-1-0 weekend, Cayet and his fellow defenders allowed a combined six shots on net with the only opposing goal coming via penalty kick.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Harrison Devenish-Meares * Jr. * USF

Devenish-Meares posted back-to-back career performances on the week against a pair of ranked opponents. The junior turned aside a career-high six shots against No. 15 Michigan last Monday, and set his personal best higher on Friday with nine saves against No. 17 Virginia Tech on Friday. Devenish-Meares has played every minute in net for USF this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Gilles Kuhler * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Kuhler scored his first two career goals for Tulsa against North Florida on Sunday, including the game-winner in the 65th minute to seal the 3-2 victory. He finished with three shots on the week in 112 minutes of action.

Notched the game-tying goal from deep for the Knights against No. 17 Virginia Tech on Sunday

Scored the lone goal for SMU in a 1-0 win over Incarnate Word on Friday; marked his second-straight game with a goal

Named to the All-Tournament Team at the ODU Soccer Classic after netting the game-winner for the Owls over No. 25 ODU on Sunday
