Cincinnati's Thomas, USF's Harvey Gather Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 20.
 
Player of the Week
IImar’I Thomas * So. * F * Cincinnati

Thomas was Cincinnati’s mainstay in a 2-0 week that saw the Bearcats rise to a winning record in conference play. She averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds per game to go along with 2.5 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals. The Bearcats defeated Temple on Wednesday behind Thomas’s 22 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in 26 minutes. She followed on Saturday with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting, 10 boards and three blocks as Cincinnati defeated Tulsa 70-50. Thomas continues to rank amongst the nation’s leaders with her 65.4 season field goal percentage.
 
Freshman of the Week
Sydni Harvey * Fr. * G * USF
Harvey led USF offensively in the Bulls’ key 73-46 win over Tulane on Saturday, registering a career-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting with four 3-pointers. She dished out a team-high four assists, recorded two steals and went a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line. On the season, Harvey is the only player in The American shooting above 90 percent from the charity stripe at 90.8 for the season.

Averaged 19.5 points, 6.0 steals, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in another 2-0 week for UCF as the Knights rose to 16-2; went 10-of-12 from the foul line on the week and now paces The American with 19.3 points per game on the season
 
Megan Walker * So. * G * UConn
Matched the single-game season-high in the conference with a career-high 34 against Tulane on 11-of-16 from the field, adding 10 rebounds; for the week, averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in wins over the Green Wave and Temple
 
Angela Harris * Jr. * G * Houston
Led Houston with 23 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Cougars’ win over Wichita State on Sunday; went 5-of-12 from the field, all from 3-point range, and 8-of-9 from the foul line
 
Taylor Barnes * Jr. * G * Memphis
Registered a season-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, adding six rebounds, three steals and two assists in Memphis’ 58-46 win over ECU on Saturday
 
Enna Pehadzic * So. * G * USF
Scored a career-high 21 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out three assists in the Bulls’ 73-46 win over Tulane on Saturday
