Highlights
- The UConn men’s swimming and diving team defeated Villanova 183-106, while its women’s team fell to the Wildcats 168-132 to wrap up the Huskies’ dual-meet season at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. North Hansen had himself a day with a pair of wins in the 1000 (9:29.94) and 500 Free (4:37.37). Mark Hunter highlighted his Senior Day action with a first-place finish in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Will Kearsey, Cooper Knapp and Emils Jurcik also each nabbed multiple wins on Saturday. Kearsey took first in the 100 backstroke (49.35) and 50 freestyle (20.76). Knapp swept the butterfly events with wins in the 100 (50.20) and 200 (1:52.09), and Jurcik secured first place in the 100 (47.26) and 200 freestyle (1:41.66).
UConn diver Monica Marcello capped a memorable career with a spectacular final dual meet in Storrs. The Middletown, Conn., native won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives and set a new pool record with a mark of 356.70 in the 3-meter. Jackie Van Lew wrapped up her Senior Day with a win in the 100 freestyle. Katelyn Walsh won both the 200 and 100 breaststroke events.
Cincinnati competed in two dual meets over the weekend, as the men’s and women’s team swept Kenyon College on Friday but dropped a competitive meet with Northwestern on Saturday afternoon. The men won 142-101 against Kenyon, while the women won 156-87. On Saturday, the men fell 172.5-127.5 and the women lost 170-129.
Claire Schuermann swept the diving events against Kenyon and placed second in the 1-meter and third in the 3-meter against Northwestern. The Bearcats combined for 19 victories against Kenyon and nine against the Wildcats. Dominic Polling won four individual events over the weekend.
The SMU men’s team hosted Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday in a non-scored meet, as the Mustangs won 10 events, including sweeps in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM. Ralph Woo placed first in 50 freestyle (21-28) and 100 backstroke (49.61).
Houston posted 18 top-three finishes in double-dual action at Texas A&M Saturday morning at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium, defeating Vanderbilt 199-76 and falling to No. 8 Texas A&M 175-116. Laura Laderoute won the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.55 and had runner-up finishes in the 200 backstroke and 200 IM, clocking 2:01.44 and 2:04.94, respectively.
Tulane earned a 227-72 win over West Florida inside the Reily Student Recreation Center Natatorium on Saturday. The Green Wave won 14 of the 16 scored events, including both relay races en route to earning their third victory of the season. On the individual side, Paris Zhang (100 backstroke and 100 freestyle), Kate McDonald (100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke), senior Michelle Zelnick (200 freestyle and 200 IM) and Jordan Morling (200 butterfly and 200 backstroke) each captured a pair of races.
