PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 27.
Player of the Week
Napheesa Collier * Sr. * F * UConn
Collier averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week that saw UConn rise to the top of the American Athletic Conference standings. Against SMU on Wednesday, the senior poured in a game-high 22 points in 29 minutes, swiping six blocks and pulling down eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. She followed with 23 points and nine rebounds on Sunday against UCF, adding a trio of blocks and four steals. For the week, Collier connected on 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) from the field and 13-of-16 from the foul line.
Freshman of the Week
Tatyana Hill * Fr. * F * Houston
Hill averaged 12.5 points and four rebounds per game in Houston’s 1-1 week. In the Cougars’ Saturday victory over Tulsa, she registered a team-best and career-high 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field with five three throws, snagging four boards and adding a steal. Earlier in the week, Hill scored eight points with four rebounds in 18 minutes at Cincinnati. The Cougars now sit in sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings.

Registered a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double in UCF’s overtime win at ECU, adding four steals; added 13 points at UConn to finish the week averaging 11.5 points on 76.9 percent shooting and 7.0 rebounds

Put forth career numbers in Cincinnati’s 2-0 week, averaging 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game; scored a career-high 21 points against Houston and dished out 12 assists against Memphis for the conference’s highest single-game total this season
Alana Davis * So. * F * Memphis
Averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds with a perfect 9-for-9 line from the foul line; led Memphis with 11 points and four boards in the Tigers’ 47-40 win at USF on Wednesday
Mia Davis * So. * F * Temple
Scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and added four assists in Temple’s first conference win on Saturday – an 84-62 decision over ECU; averaged 17.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists on the week
Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage * Sr. * F * Wichita State
Recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring performances, including a team-best 16 in Wichita State’s 62-44 win at Tulane; finished the week averaging 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.0 assists per contest
