UCF’s Dawkins, Houston’s Hinton Earn Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the ninth week of the college basketball season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aubrey Dawkins - UCF - RS-Jr. - G - Durham, N.C.
Dawkins was awarded his second Player of the Week accolade after leading the Knights to a 2-0 start to conference play. He averaged 16.5 points per game on 63-percent shooting from the floor and added 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. UCF has now won six-straight games and 11 of their past 12. Dawkins scored in double figures in both games last week as he continued his program record of scoring in double digits in each of his first 14 games as a Knight. He led UCF with a season-high 23 points in their first-ever road win at UConn.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Nate Hinton - Houston - G - Gastonia, N.C.
Hinton earns his first Freshman of the Week award after helping the Cougars to a 15-0 overall record, 2-0 mark in league play and extending their nation-leading mark of consecutive home victories to 28 games. He scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Sunday's win over Memphis to keep the Cougars as one of three undefeated teams remaining in the country. Hinton had 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over win over Tulsa.

HONOR ROLL
Shizz Alston, Jr. - Temple - Sr. - G
Scored the final seven points in an overtime win at Wichita State and finished with a team-high 22 points with three assists and two steals. Had 18 points, four 3-pointers and three assists in a close loss at UCF.

Kyvon Davenport - Memphis - Sr. - F
Averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two conference matchups. Had his fourth 20-plus point scoring game of the season in a win over Wichita State. Has scored in double figures in 12 of 15 games this season.

Jayden Gardner - ECU - Fr. - F
Averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in a 1-1 week. Posted his sixth double-double of the year in ECU's win over Cincinnati. Tipped in a pivotal basket with 20 seconds left to secure the win.

Laquincy Rideau - USF - RS-Jr. - G
Averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game in a win over UConn and a buzzer-beater road loss at Tulsa. Ranks fifth nationally in steals per game.

Jimmy Whitt, Jr. - SMU - Jr. - G
Averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals, and had just one turnover in 66 minutes of action. Had a double-double at Tulane and led the Mustangs to a win over ECU.
