PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 6.
Player of the Week
Krystal Freeman * So. * F * Tulane
Freeman repeated as the Player of the Week, putting forth a career performance as the Green Wave opened conference play with a 68-57 win over ECU. She led all scorers with 17 points and pulled down 20 rebounds, the fourth-highest single-game total in American Athletic Conference history. Freeman’s rebounding line included half on the offensive end of the floor and is one of just 16 20-plus rebound outings nationally this season. She reached her 17 points on 7-of-15 from the field and added two assists and a block.
Freshman of the Week
Desiree Lewis * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Lewis tied her career-high with 12 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to help Tulsa to a 63-49 win over Wichita State to open conference play. She connected on 5-of-9 from the field, with six of her boards on the offensive end in 33 minutes of play. Additionally, Lewis contributed two assists and two steals.

Kay Kay Wright * Jr. * G * UCF
Led UCF to its conference-best 12
th win of the season, dropping 15 points to keep her double-digit scoring streak intact while adding seven assists, five rebounds, a block and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line
Sam Rodgers * Jr. * G * Cincinnati
Recorded a career-high 20 points, including 17 in the first half, with five 3-pointers, two assists, two blocks and a steal in the Bearcats’ 69-57 win over SMU
Shae Leverett * So. * C * USF
Flirted with an unconventional triple-double against Temple, scoring 10 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and swatting a career-high six blocks in USF’s 63-53 victory
Sydni Harvey * Fr. * G * USF
Led USF with 19 points in the Bulls’ conference-opening win over Temple, including an 8-of-9 performance from the foul line; added four rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes
Crystal Polk * Sr. * F * Tulsa
Tallied her seventh career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the Golden Hurricane’s win over Wichita State, shooting 7-of-13 from the field to go along with two assists and two steals
