Navy’s Perry, Cincinnati’s Hicks, Temple’s Mobley Earn Weekly Football Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly football honors for the seventh week of the 2019 college football season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Malcolm Perry • Navy • Sr. • QB • Clarksville, Tenn.
Perry rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns on 20 attempts to lead Navy in a 45-17 win at Tulsa. Perry averaged 10.9 yards per carry and scored on touchdown runs of 29, 35 and 3 yards as Navy scored 28 consecutive first-half points. It was Perry's fourth career game with 200 rushing yards, tying for the second-most in school history.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ja'Von Hicks • Cincinnati • So. • S • Cincinnati, Ohio
Hicks figured in three of Cincinnati's five takeaways on defense in a 38-23 win at Houston, keeping Cincinnati tied atop The American's East Division at 2-0 in conference play. Hicks finished with two interceptions and a fumble recovery, setting up two Bearcat touchdowns and denying the Cougars a score at the end of the first half.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Will Mobley • Temple • So. • K • Lititz, Pa.
Mobley scored 12 points, going 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and on PATs as Temple took a 30-28 win against No. 20 Memphis, giving the Owls their second win against a top-25 team this season. Mobley hit first-half field goals from 31, 29 and 44 yards to help Temple build a 16-0 lead, giving him seven field goals in eight attempts this season.
 
HONOR ROLL
Desmond Ridder • Cincinnati • So. • QB
Completed 14 of 24 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards and a TD in a 38-23 win against Houston.
 
Kenneth Gainwell • Memphis • Fr. • RB
Rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and had team highs of eight receptions and 98 receiving yards in a 30-28 loss at Temple. Became the first FBS player this season with 100 rushing yards and 90 receiving yards in the same game.
 
Jordan Cronkrite • USF • Jr. • RB
Rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in a 27-23 win against BYU. Scored the go-ahead touchdown with 7:37 left in regulation.
 
Harrison Hand • Temple • Jr. • CB
Had a team-high nine tackles with 2.0 tackles for loss, an interception, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in a 30-28 win against Memphis.
 
Justin McMillan • Tulane • Sr. • QB
Completed 18 of 24 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns and added 37 rushing yards with a TD in a 49-7 win against UConn.
