PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced its Golfers of the Month for September 2019.
Men's Golfer of the Month
Blake Taylor * Sr. * East Carolina
Taylor enjoyed a solid senior September, logging a pair of top-10 finishes and three top 15s over his three starts. Taylor posted a 69.56 stroke average across nine rounds for the month that included five rounds in the 60s. He tied for sixth place at the Island Resort Intercollegiate on Sept. 1-2 following rounds of 72-69-72=213 (-3) at the Sage Run Golf Club in Bark River, Michigan. Taylor added a solo 12th-place finish (72-67-75=214, -2) at the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina, on Sept. 14-15. Taylor closed the month in solo third place at the Old Town Club Collegiate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Sept. 23-24, carding rounds of 63-67-69=199 (-11) to finish as one of three players with sub-200 tournament totals.
Women's Golfer of the Month
Tunrada Piddon * Fr. * UCF
Piddon claimed women’s golfer of the month accolades with one tournament victory and an additional top-15 finish for UCF in September. Piddon logged a 70.50 stroke average over six rounds for the month, which featured three rounds in the 60s and five total rounds under par. She kicked off her collegiate career with a tie for 12th place at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, on Sept. 9-10, firing rounds of 77-69-67=213 (-3) at Yeaman’s Hall Country Club. Piddon followed up her debut performance with medalist honors at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Legends Club North in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sept. 20-22. She fashioned a three-day score of 6-under-par 210 (70-71-69). The outing secured Piddon’s first career victory, besting 80 other players in the field in Nashville.
