Memphis Trio, Temple's Lefebvre Earn Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 20.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Artur De Luca * Jr. * M * Memphis

De Luca buried the golden goal in the 91st minute on Friday, as Memphis dealt No. 3 SMU its first loss of the season by a 4-3 score. The junior was on the receiving end of a corner kick, finishing the contest with a header. He finished with three points on the game thanks to an assist on the Tigers’ third goal in the 86th minute. The victory marked the highest-ranked win in program history for Memphis, and extended the Tigers’ road win streak to a school-record five matches.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jackson Morse * Sr. * D * Memphis
Morse registered the Tigers’ second goal, knotting the score at two before Memphis went on to defeat No. 3 SMU 4-3 in overtime. His score came on a corner-kick header in the 81st minute. Defensively, Memphis held SMU to just seven shots on net and are just the third team to hold the Mustangs scoreless in the first half so far this season.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Simon Lefebvre * Sr. * Temple

Lefebvre made five saves to backstop Temple to its second-straight conference victory, as the Owls defeated USF 3-1 on Friday. The senior turned aside two shots in the first half and three in the second to keep Temple in front throughout the contest. Lefebvre leads the conference with a 0.97 goals against average on the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Peter Chang * R-Fr. * F * Memphis

Chang was Memphis’ point leader in the Tigers’ 4-3 overtime win at SMU on Friday, tallying two assists and a goal for four points. The freshman assisted on Memphis’ first two goals before scoring the third, putting the Tigers ahead in the 86th minute. Memphis went on to hand the No. 3 Mustangs their first loss of the season.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Gino Vivi * Fr. * M/F * UCF
Posted his second-consecutive golden goal on Sunday, finding the net in the 92nd minute to lift UCF to a 2-1 win over UConn; the Knights are unbeaten in their last 11 matches
 
Rex Epps * Sr. * F * Cincinnati
Scored the lone goal in Cincinnati’s 1-0 victory at Tulsa on Saturday, striking from 25 yards out in the 68th minute; the win marked the first league victory of the season for the Bearcats
 
Avionne Flanagan * Jr. * D * USF
Posted a six-point week, including two goals and two assists; scored a goal and an assist in the Bulls’ completed 2-1 match with Tulsa last Monday, and followed on Tuesday with a goal and assist against Jacksonville
 
Eddie Munjoma * Sr. * D * SMU
Registered his second career multi-goal game on Friday, scoring two of SMU’s three goals against Memphis including the equalizer in the 87th minute to send the match to overtime
               
Sean Karani * Fr. * F * Temple
Led Temple with four points in the Owls’ 3-1 over USF on Friday, scoring in the 61st and 87th minutes; has now recorded three goals in the last two league wins for the Owls
