PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the eighth week of the 2019 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Evelyne Viens · Sr. · F · USF
Viens scored in both of USF’s matches this week, including an equalizer against UConn on Thursday and the game-winning goal vs. Temple on Sunday. The senior’s goal on Sunday was her 62nd career goal, which is a new conference record.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Konya Plummer · Sr. · D · UCF
Plummer anchored a UCF defense that did not allow a goal in two scoreless draws this week. The senior and the Knight defense only allowed four shots on goal (two each) against Temple and UConn.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Samantha Cude · Sr. · GK · Houston
Cude recorded two shutouts in a pair of wins for Houston. The senior recorded six saves against ECU on Thursday night in a 1-0 overtime win before making a pair of saves against Cincinnati in a 3-0 win.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Caroline DeLisle · R-Fr. · GK · UCF
DeLisle recorded her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season with shutouts against Temple and UConn. The redshirt freshman made a pair of saves in both matches.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Cassidy Formanek · So. · D · Houston
Formanek anchored a Houston defense in two shutouts and tallied a goal against Cincinnati.
 
Jazmin Grant · Jr. · F · Houston
Grant provided a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon.
 
Celiana Torres · So. · MF · SMU
Torres scored a goal and dished out an assist in a 4-0 win over ECU on Sunday. She recorded 11 shots in two matches last week.
 
Brianna Blethen · Sr. · D · USF
Blethen anchored a defense that only allowed five shots on goal and one goal allowed in a pair of victories last week. She also recorded an assist against Temple.

Basileo recorded a conference season-high 11 saves against UCF, while also making five saves against USF.
