Highlights

IUPUI 1, Cincinnati 0
University of Cincinnati men's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to IUPUI Tuesday night at Carroll Stadium in its final non-conference match of the season.

A critical juncture came early in the second half when junior Creggton Charlton's penalty kick in the 48th minute was corralled. The home team responded quickly with a free-kick conversion just steps from the UC box -- the eventual game-winner -- in the 50th minute.

With the loss, the Bearcats fell to 5-8-1 overall, while the Jaguars picked up their first win since Sept. 28 to improve to 4-7-2 on the year.

In a competitive first half, UC had a great opportunity on goal in the 25th minute when IUPUI was whistled for a handball just outside the box which set up a prime free-kick opportunity. Charlton then sailed the free kick wide of the net and the match stayed scoreless.

Next period, looking to recover from the back-breaking sequence early, the Bearcats pushed ahead in search of the equalizer but weren't quite able to convert. With time running down in regulation, the Red & Black had a few chances on restarts but couldn't capitalize, resulting in a 1-0 setback.

Temple 2, Louisville 1
It was a thrilling night for the Temple men's soccer team (6-6-1, 2-1-1 AAC), as they picked up a massive 2-1 Tuesday-night road win over Louisville (7-5-2, 2-3-1 ACC) in their final nonconference game of the season. The Owls now have three-straight wins on the table and defeated two teams that appeared in the NCAA RPI top-25 in the past 10 days in No. 13 Louisville and No. 23 Memphis. The Temple offensive output on the night was backed by the team captains, as junior Pierre Cayet and senior Lukas Fernandes each buried a header goal in the first and last five minutes of the second half to propel the Owls to victory.

The Temple defense came up big against its nationally recognized opponent throughout the entirety of the first half, thwarting key chances by the Cardinals over the first 45 minutes as the Owls tried to put the pieces together offensively. At the half, Louisville outshot Temple 5-0 with two on goal and had a 5-2 nudge in corner kicks.

The Owls reset at halftime and came out ready to battle through a huge second half against the Cardinals. Putting the pressure on early, Temple worked its way up the field right off the bat to earn a corner kick just three minutes into the half. Esteban Suarez stepped up to fire an in-swinging corner right to the top of the six, where Cayet was waiting to bury a header down the center to notch his first goal of the season.

After 30 minutes of scoreless play, Louisville equalized in the 75th minute when Dieye slotted the ball back to a charging Liam Bennett, who tapped it in to even the field.

Overtime seemed imminent as the squads continued to battle but were unable to find the back of the net. With less than four minutes remaining in regulation, Karani found the ball in the center and slipped it out wide to sophomore Mickael Borger. Borger chipped it right onto the penalty spot, where Fernandes was perfectly positioned to bury a header to the far post and give the Owls the go-ahead goal.

The win was Temple's third-straight as the squad knocked out two teams in the past 10 days that received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll (Memphis, 42 votes and Louisville, 40 votes). Six wins on the season also surpasses head coach Brian Rowland's win total of five from his first year at the helm of the program in 2018.

USF 2, FIU 2
The University of South Florida men's soccer team held the upper hand on Florida International for over 60 minutes on Tuesday night, however, it took just under 90 seconds for the Panthers to change the complexion of the contest as the two sides played to a hard-fought 2-2 double overtime draw at Corbett Stadium.

The Bulls, 8-4-1 on the year, got goals from Victor Claudel in the 28th minute, and Adrian Billhardt in the 62nd, to take a 2-0 lead on the Panthers (9-0-5) who came into the match ranked No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. Claudel would find the back of the net after assists from Avionne Flanagan and Ignasi Lupon Flores.

Billhardt, who officially netted his first goal of the season, tonight against the Panthers, did so on a pretty set piece from 19 yards out where he chipped the ball over the FIU wall and just over and out of the reach of FIU goalkeeper Daniel Gagliardi.

As much as USF had control of the match, FIU kept pressing and finally broke through when Andoni Garrogerricaechebarria scored in the 77th minute, and then Nicholas O'Callaghan got the equalizer 89 seconds later.

In addition to USFs two scores, the Bulls had opportunities to convert on open nets, twice, however FIU defenders came in to clear the ball just as it was about to cross the goal line.

The Panthers, on the other hand had an opportunity to get on the board just a minute before the Garrogerricaechebarria goal, by way of a penalty kick, however Inigo Sagarduy put the ball off the left post as a diving Harrison Devenish-Meares got "just a fingertip on it."

SMU 5, Stetson 0
No. 12 SMU used four first half goals, paired with another in the second half, to beat Stetson 5-0 at Westcott Field on Tuesday night.

It's the fourth time this season that SMU (11-1-1, 2-1-1) has scored five goals in a match, doubling the program's total from the last decade. The Mustangs dominated on both sides of the ball, holding Stetson (7-7-1) to just five shots on goal, nine fewer than SMU, en route to their eighth shutout of the season.

The Mustangs got off to a fast start once again as Gabriel Costa scored off a penalty kick in the 2nd minute. It's Costa's seventh goal of the season and his fourth straight game with a goal. The two-time

AAC offensive player of the week has been on a tear over the last six matches, tallying a team-high 18 points in one month.

Just a few minutes later SMU would take complete control of the game when Eddie Munjoma scored off a set piece for the third time this season. The goal was Munjoma's ninth of the season, tying himself with Garrett McLaughlin for the team-high, but Munjoma wasn't done.

Before Munjoma could get back on the board, Knut Ahlander continued his peak form when he finished off a run with his sixth goal of the season. Paired with his eight assists in 2019, Ahlander crossed the 20-point mark this season, joining three other Mustangs.

With a commanding 3-0 lead the Mustangs continued pressing for more goals as a beautiful attack led to Nicky Hernandez playing an absolutely perfect ball to Brandon Terwege in the box, who then connected with his right foot, burying the ball into the back of the net and solidifying a 4-0 first half lead for No. 12 SMU.

The Mustangs have now scored 23 first half goals this season - the 23 first half goals are more than all but two AAC teams have all season.

SMU found another goal in the second half when Eddie Munjoma scored off another set piece to record back-to-back multi-goal games for the first time in his career. Munjoma now has three braces in 2019 after scoring a combined two goals in his first three seasons on the Hilltop. His 10 goals lead the Mustangs, in addition to his 26 points.

Central Arkansas 4, Memphis 1
The Memphis men's soccer team closed its non-conference schedule with a 4-1 loss to Central Arkansas on Tuesday. The Tigers now shift their focus on three league matches down the stretch of the regular season.

Memphis started on its heels from the early moments of the match, surrendering a PK in the second minute. Before the Tigers could regroup, UCA put another score on the board.

A sloppy first half plagued the Tigers, as possession was tough to maintain for the home team. Memphis, a team that usually counter-attacks well, struggled to respond on defensive stops and create offense. Memphis was outshot in the first 45 minutes 8-2.

Coming out of the break, the Tigers took the field with renewed energy, but could not overcome the pressure of the UCA defense with consistency. A fourth goal in the 57th minute from the visitors put the Tigers deeper in a deficit, without much time to start a comeback.

Artur De Luca provided a bright spot for Memphis on a set piece late in the second half. Lining up a free kick on the right side of the field, the Sao Paulo, Brazil native ripped a curling shot that found the top left corner of the goal, sailing just between the outstretched keeper's hand and the corner of the crossbar, giving Memphis its only score of the evening.

Tulsa 1, Denver 1
The Tulsa men's soccer team battled Denver to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Tuesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-7-1 on the season, while the Pioneers moved to 2-9-3 overall.

Harris Partain scored TU's goal, marking his sixth-straight goal for Tulsa in the last four games and ninth this season.

Preston Judd put Denver on the board with just 3:47 ticked off the clock in the second frame as he went around two defenders and shot from 16 yards out.  The Pioneers held onto that lead until Partain got the equalizer in the 86th minute of a cross from Adam Habib.

Neither team found the back of the net through the final four minutes of regulation or the two 10-minute overtime periods to end the game in a tie.

Habib had a team-best five attempts, four of which were on goal, while Partain added three shots, and six others had one attempt.  Bryson Reed logged all 110 minutes in goal and picked up three saves.
