PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the ninth week of the 2019 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Evelyne Viens · Sr. · F · USF
Viens scored in both of USF’s wins this past week. The senior scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Cincinnati and also scored an insurance goal against East Carolina. She had seven shots on goal in the two matches.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Barron · Fr. · D · Cincinnati
Barron anchored a defense that did not allow a shot on goal against UCF. The freshman also tallied the game-winning goal against the Knights. Barron and the Bearcat defense also allowed six shots on goal in a 1-0 loss to USF.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Martinez · So. · GK · USF
Martinez allowed one goal in 180 minutes in goal for two USF wins last week. She recorded a shutout with two saves in a 1-0 win over Cincinnati and made three saves in a 3-1 win over East Carolina.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Saorla Miller · Fr. · M · Memphis
Miller scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over SMU and also added an assist in a 4-1 victory over Houston.

Scott scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at East Carolina on Thursday evening.

Jones scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Houston and added an assist in a 2-1 win over SMU.
