Highlights

Providence 2, UConn 1
Junior defender Robin Lapert scored his second goal of the season and sophomore keeper Gianluca Catalano collected four saves in net, but the Huskies fell to Providence, 2-1, in overtime Tuesday afternoon at Dillon Stadium.

The match remained deadlocked 0-0 until the 30'. After UConn knocked the ball out of bounds to set up a Providence corner, Joao Serrano sent a pass inside the box that ended up curving into the back of the net to give the Friars a 1-0 lead.

UConn found its equalizer after Lapert's header in the 50' minute of action. Ziyad Fekri's corner kick sailed into the box, and Lapert converted a header from four yards out to tie the game 1-1.

Neither team scored over the final 40 minutes of regulation, sending the game into overtime. The Huskies had two shots on goal during that stretch, but Moussa Wade and Dayonn Harris' attempts at putting the Huskies ahead were turned away.

Providence scored in the 92' minute to seal a 2-1 win.

St. John’s 1, Temple 0
The Temple men's soccer team (3-6-1, 0-1-1 AAC) battled relentlessly against No. 10 St. John's (10-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) on Tuesday evening, but the Owls were unable to break down the talented Red Storm defense that has allowed just five goals in 11 games. Despite being held to just one shot on goal in 90 minutes of play, the Red Storm's Tani Oluwaseyi netted his seventh goal of the season to lift the top-10 Johnnies to victory.

The Red Storm's game winner in the 66th minute was their only shot on goal of the match, as the Temple defense was able to shut down countless chances and throw their opponent off. St. John's barely nudged Temple in shots (13-12), but Temple saw more corner kick opportunities (4-3). The Temple offense forced St. John's to make seven saves, whereas Lefebvre had his second straight game without a save.

The 1-0 loss is Temple's fourth defeat that was decided by just a single goal this season, illustrating the strength of the Owls defensively and in goal.

Leandros Lillis and Elias Hellgren Villegas led the squad with three shots apiece. Lillis and Lukas Fernandes each put two threatening shots on goal, but were unable to find the equalizer before the clocked ran down.

Memphis 4, UAB 1
Memphis men's soccer picked up its sixth consecutive win on Tuesday night, earning a 4-1 win over UAB at Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex.

Memphis used two first-half goals and two second-half goals to pull away from the Blazers. Four Tigers found the back of the net in the win.

Sam Ashton got the scoring started for the Tigers, netting his ninth goal of the season off of the feed from Christoforos Kourtis. Ashton is the first Tiger with 20 points in a season since Mark Sherrod registered 28 points in 2012.

Returning the favor, Ashton combined with Gurman Sangha to assist Kourtis on the second score of the night. Only 20 minutes later, Jackson Morse would score his first goal of the season, cleaning up a header off of a corner kick from Alexandros Ierides.

Memphis took the 3-0 lead into the halftime break, keeping the visiting team at bay for the entirety of the half. UAB was allowed zero shots through the first 45 minutes, and just three for the entirety of the match.

Continuing to pressure the Blazers, Memphis started the half with a pair of shots from Kourtis and Maliek Howell, but neither of them found the net. Righting the ship some, UAB finally found its first shot of the match in the 59th minute. From there, the momentum would shift back and forth between the teams.

A trio of corner kicks by UAB resulted in a PK, allowing the Blazers to get on the board.

The Tigers would tack on one more goal on a PK of their own, earned and taken by Jovan Prado. Smacking the shot past the keeper's outstretched arms, Prado claimed his fourth goal of the season to cap the scoring for Memphis.

Tulsa 3, Oral Roberts 2
Harris Partain scored a hat trick to lead Tulsa to a 3-2 win over crosstown rival Oral Roberts on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field in downtown Tulsa.  TU moved to 4-5 on the season, while ORU fell to 10-2 overall.

Partain's hat trick was the first for the Golden Hurricane since 2012 and 15th in school history.

The Golden Hurricane now has a 23-2-1 lead in the all-time series over the Eagles.

Partain put Tulsa on the board at the 4:40 mark as he headed in a corner kick taken by Chase Bromstedt, but ORU's Reed Berry evened the score six minutes later as he put one into the back of the net from left to right.

Partain put TU up once against off a combination from Marcos Moreno and Zinnhardt, and then earned his hat trick on a penalty kick at 78:18.

Vinicius Oliveira made it 3-2 off a corner kick taken by Juan Arias in the 81st minute for the final score.

Partain had a team-best four shots, three of which were on goal, while Bromstedt added two attempts and four others had one shot.  Brady Moody logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up five saves.

Oral Roberts had a 12-10 lead in shots, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 9-3 lead in corner kicks.

Cincinnati 3, Cleveland State 2
University of Cincinnati men's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to three matches Wednesday night with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Cleveland State Vikings at Gettler Stadium.

Freshman forward Sam Robinson scored UC's golden goal in the 92nd minute with a header off of a corner kick from junior midfielder Shevon Stewart. The score was the first of Robinson's young career.

With the win, the Bearcats improved to 4-6-1 on the year, while the Vikings dropped to 3-4-1.

The Red & Black went into halftime with a 1-0 lead following a score by senior forward Rex Epps during the 42nd minute. Armed with some momentum, UC struck again early in the second half with senior midfielder Cameron Panley's first goal of the season – a rebound off the post from junior forward Darryn Commissiong's strike in the 48th minute.

The Bearcats seemed poised to cruise to victory, but the visitors had other plans. CSU got on the board during the 52nd minute and tied things up in the 66th minute. Both teams charged ahead over the duration of the second half in search of the go-ahead score. With no scoring opportunities truly materializing, the match went into overtime.

UC was aggressive early in the extra period, creating set-piece chances, highlighted by a corner kick that led to the game-winning score in the 92nd minute.
