Pierre-Louis, Wiseman Earn Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The American Athletic Conference announced the men’s basketball weekly honors for Nov. 11.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nate Pierre-Louis, Jr., G, Temple
Pierre-Louis turned in a pair of double-doubles in two wins for the Owls, averaging 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals, 4.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game. Against Drexel, he put the Owls on his back in the second half and recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists. On Saturday against Morgan State, he poured in 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and provided six steals and five assists.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
James Wiseman, C, Memphis
Wiseman averaged 22.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game in a pair of wins for the Tigers. In his highly anticipated debut against South Carolina State, he had 28 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks before recording 17 points, nine rebounds and five blocks against UIC on Friday night.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
 
Christian Vital, Sr., G, UConn
Vital recorded 17 points, seven rebounds and seven steals (tied for second-most by an American player in a single game) against Sacred Heart.
 
Jayden Gardner, So., F, East Carolina
Gardner nearly averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as ECU split a pair of games last week.
 
Tyson Jolly, Jr., G, SMU
Jolly led SMU to a 74-65 win over Jacksonville State with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
Jordan Walker, R-So., G, Tulane
In his first game in 21 months, Walker went off for 24 points, four steals and two assists in the Green Wave’s 76-55 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
 
Dexter Dennis, So., G, Wichita State
Dennis was 7-14 from behind the arc and averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in a pair of wins for the Shockers.
