PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Memphis and USF are set to play in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship on Friday (Nov. 15). The American Athletic Conference tournament champion Bulls travel to in-state rival Florida at 7 p.m. Eastern, while The American regular season champion Tigers head west to Washington State at 8 p.m. Eastern.

USF defeated Memphis in The American championship match, 2-0, following a brace by the tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player, Evelyne Viens. Sydney Martinez of USF was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

The berth marks USF’s sixth overall and third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The team has gone as far as the second round in three occasions: 2010, 2017 and 2018.

USF met Florida once already this season on Aug. 25. The Gators traveled to Tampa for a nonconference matchup on the season’s opening weekend, and took a 2-0 victory back to Gainesville.

Memphis, which has also made the NCAA Tournament in three of its last four seasons, is making its eighth NCAA appearance overall.

The Tigers and Cougars will meet for the first time in each program’s history on Friday.
