USF Takes on Washington in NCAA Second Round

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The USF women's soccer team (15-4-0) takes on No. 4 seed Washington (12-6-2) in the NCAA Championship Second Round on Friday (Nov. 22) at 2 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla. The match will be shown live on ESPN3.

The winner of the match will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Florida State and Brown, who face off at 5 p.m. on Friday. The third round matchup would take place on Sunday (Nov. 24) at 1 p.m.

The American Athletic Conference tournament champion went on the road and defeated in-state rival Florida, 4-2, in the first round on Nov. 15.

USF senior Evelyne Viens scored a hat trick, scoring in the 43rd minute, the 52nd minute and the 55th minute. Fanny Pelletier-Laroche provided an insurance goal in the 84th minute.

Viens now has 23 goals on the season, which is a conference record for single-season goals. 

The senior also has 71 career goals and 165 career points, which are both conference records.

For her efforts, Viens was named the TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week on Nov. 19, the second-time she has been named National Player of the Week this season.
