Memphis' Gibson, Patterson Join Tulane's Hall as Weekly Award Winners

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the 10th week of the 2019 college football season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Antonio Gibson • Memphis • Sr. • WR • Stockbridge, Ga.
Gibson, who was also chosen as the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, set an American Athletic Conference record with 386 all-purpose yards — the most by an FBS player this season — to key Memphis’ 54-48 win against No. 14 SMU. He became the first FBS player in 2019 to score touchdowns three different ways as he found the end zone on a rushing attempt, a pass reception and on a kickoff return. Gibson had six catches for 130 yards and a 50-yard touchdown, 97 rushing yards on three carries, including a 78-yard TD and added a 97-yard kickoff return for a score to start the third quarter.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
P.J. Hall • Tulane • Sr. • S • Hoover, Ala.
Hall had five tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble to go with five pass breakups, the most by an American Athletic Conference player this season, in Tulane’s 38-26 win against Tulsa. Hall’s forced fumble was returned by the Green Wave for a touchdown, giving Tulane a 24-13 lead on its way to clinching bowl eligibility for the second straight season.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Riley Patterson • Memphis • Jr. • K • Edwardsville, Ill.
Patterson scored 18 points — the most by an American Athletic Conference kicker in a game this season — to help Memphis to a 54-48 win against No. 14 SMU. Patterson made field goals of 30, 49, 34 and 50 yards and was 6-for-6 on PATs.

Completed 21 of 30 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a TD in a 44-29 win against Houston.

Had 12 catches for an American Athletic Conference-record 283 yards and a touchdown in a 46-43 loss to No. 17 Cincinnati.
 
Malcolm Perry • Navy • Sr. • QB
Rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns and had 165 passing yards with a TD in a 56-10 win at UConn.
 
Shane Buechele • SMU • Jr. • QB
Completed 34 of 54 passes for 456 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-48 loss at No. 23 Memphis.
