PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the final week of the 2019 college football regular season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamale Carothers • Navy • So. • FB • Bowling Green, Ky.
Carothers led Navy to a 56-41 win against Houston lifting the Midshipmen into a tie for first place in the final American Athletic Conference West Division standings. Carothers rushed for a game-high 188 yards and five touchdowns on 18 carries, averaging 10.4 yards per attempt. He had three touchdown runs in the second half, including a 75-yard TD on the first play from scrimmage of the third quarter to give Navy a 35-27 lead.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryce Huff • Memphis • Sr. • DE • Mobile, Ala.
Huff led a Memphis defense that had five sacks and 15 tackles for loss as the Tigers clinched The American’s West Division title with a 34-24 win against Cincinnati. Huff had game highs of eight tackles, 2.0 sacks and two forced fumbles to go with 3.5 tackles for loss as part of a defensive effort that held the Bearcats to seven second-half points.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Claybrooks • Memphis • Sr. • CB • Nashville, Tenn.
Claybrooks staked Memphis to an early lead in the Tigers’ West Division-clinching win against Cincinnati as he returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, giving Memphis its fourth special teams TD of the year. Claybrooks finished the game with 126 yards on three kickoff returns and added six tackles and two pass breakups to the Tigers’ defensive effort.

Had five receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns (63 and 41 yards) in a 49-17 win against UConn.
Zach Smith • Tulsa • Jr. • QB
Completed 21 of 31 passes for 331 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in a 49-24 win against ECU.
Reggie Robinson II • Tulsa • Sr. • CB
Had three tackles, a career-high four pass breakups and had a fumble recovery in a 49-24 win against ECU.
