Temple's Rose, Memphis' Ellis Earn Men's Basketball Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly men’s basketball honors for Dec. 2.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quinton Rose, Sr., G, Temple
Rose averaged 14.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game as Temple finished 2-1 in the Advocare Orlando Invitational. The senior almost had a triple-double against Davidson with 14 points and season highs of 11 rebounds and nine assists. In a 23-point win over Texas A&M, Rose had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Boogie Ellis, G, Memphis
Ellis helped lead Memphis to an 83-78 victory over the ACC’s NC State in the Barclays Center Classic in Brooklyn on Thanksgiving Day. Ellis had a team-high 21 points and was 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including two 3-pointers, against the Wolfpack.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
 
Chris Vogt, Jr., C, Cincinnati
Vogt averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots while shooting 71.4 percent from the field in a pair of overtime wins for the Bearcats.
 
Nate Hinton, So., G, Houston
Hinton had a career day with 24 points and 15 rebounds against Houston Baptist. The sophomore was 6-of-11 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line.
 
K.J. Lawson, Gr., F, Tulane
Lawson also poured in a career day with 30 points and six rebounds against Southern. The grad student was 10-of-12 from the field.
 
Brandon Rachal, Jr., G, Tulsa
Rachal averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of Golden Hurricane wins. The junior scored 17 in a big away win at Vanderbilt.
 
Erik Stevenson, So., G, Wichita State
Stevenson averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a pair of games at the Cancun Challenge, including 22 points against West Virginia in the final.
