Houston's Grimes, Wichita State's Etienne Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly men’s basketball honors for Dec. 9.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quentin Grimes, So., G, Houston
Grimes averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a pair of wins for the Cougars. Grimes also shot 42.9 percent from 3-point range. The sophomore scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds against Texas State on Dec. 4 before posting 24 points and four rebounds in a road win at South Carolina on Dec. 8.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tyson Etienne, G, Wichita State
In two wins for the Shockers, Etienne averaged 16.0 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 8-for-13 from 3-point range. The freshman scored a game-high 19 points on five 3-pointers to lift Wichita State to a road victory over (rv/25) Oklahoma State.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
 
Ceasar DeJesus, R-Jr., G, UCF
DeJesus scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed three rebounds against NJIT.
 
Josh Carlton, Jr., F, UConn
Carlton posted a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, while shooting 61.5 percent from the field in a win over Iona.
 
Alex Lomax, So., G, Memphis
Lomax averaged 13.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two wins for Memphis, including leading a comeback at UAB.
 
David Collins, Jr., G, USF
In two wins for the Bulls, Collins averaged 14.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds, while shooting 60.0 percent from the field.
 
Jamarius Burton, So., G, Wichita State
Burton averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of wins for the Shockers.
