Wichita State 8, Fairleigh Dickinson 0
Wichita State completed a perfect 5-0 weekend in Louisiana with an 8-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday morning. Erin McDonald pitched six shutout innings and allowed only two hits, while the Shocker offense scored runs in five of the six frames. Wylie Glover tallied a three-run, inside the park home run, while Neleigh Herring added a two-run homer of her own. Bailee Nickerson (RBI) and Lauren Mills each finished with two hits.
USF 2, New Mexico 1 (8 innings)
USF closed the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., with a 2-1, extra-inning, walk-off win thanks to Bethaney Keen's RBI single to push the Bulls past New Mexico. Megan Pierro (2-for-2) was the only player in either lineup to record multiple hits, while Jaycie Michael RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh tied the game for USF and sent the game to extras. Georgina Corrick earned the win after 2.2 innings of relief with six strikeouts, following Nicole Doyle's six strikeouts of her own in the opening 5.1 innings.
Tulsa 13, North Dakota 4
Chenise Delce and Alexis Perry each homered as Tulsa recorded a season-high 13 runs and completed a perfect 5-0 weekend at the Jaguar Challenge with a 13-4 win over North Dakota on Sunday morning. Perry and Josie Muffley drove in three runs apiece for the Golden Hurricane, who claimed its seventh straight win. Julia Hollingsworth had three hits to lead six players with multi-hit outings. In the circle, Madison Higley picked up the win with just one earned run allowed over four innings, while Kassidy Scott tossed three innings in relief for her second save of the campaign.
ECU 6, Wagner 3
ECU never trailed Sunday in the Pirate Clash finale and capped off an undefeated weekend with a 6-3 triumph over Wagner. The Pirates improve to 8-1 overall - the program's best start to a season since 2006 when that team rolled off eight-straight wins to start the campaign - and extended its current winning streak to five. Tyler King went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to pace the offensive charge while Ashleigh Inae tallied two hits a run scored and a RBI. Whitney Sanford picked up the win after tossing six innings allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout. Erin Poepping put up a scoreless frame in the top of the seventh for her first save of the year.
UCF 6, Sacramento State 5
UCF scored the final five runs on Sunday for a 6-5 victory over Sacramento State as the Knights closed out action at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Mexico. UCF finished with 11 hits, including multi-hit games from Erin Emanuel and Kyra Klarkowski with an RBI from each, while Tamesha Glover also finished with two hits, including a double. Alea White earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game and striking out four batters while allowing five runs (one earned).
FGCU 5, Memphis 0
Memphis fell 5-0 on Sunday afternoon to tournament host Florida Gulf Coast to conclude its second weekend of play. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-4 overall and 3-1 at the FGCU Invitational. Baylee Smith continued to lead the Tigers offensively with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate. She finished the weekend going 8-for-10 with six RBIs, five extra base hits and two runs scored. Mariah Nichols was dealt the loss against FGCU after 4.2 innings, allowing five hits and striking out three.
Houston 4, Louisiana-Monroe 0
Charese Wyatt's three-run double in the first inning would prove to be all that Houston would need, as the Cougars closed the weekend with a 4-0 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. Presley Bell struck out seven batters and allowed just three hits in the complete game victory. Sarah Queen also finished with two hits for Houston, while Abby Odneal added an RBI single in the sixth inning.
