PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Nine American Athletic Conference football players are among the more than 300 prospects who will participate in the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine March 1-4 in Indianapolis.
Fourof The American’s teams will have at least one participant at the combine in 2019. Houston and Memphis have three players each at the combine while Temple has two and UCF one.
American Athletic Conference players have fared well at the combine in the conference’s brief history. UConn’s Byron Jones (12 feet, 3 inches in 2015) and Obi Melifonwu (11 feet, 9 inches in 2017) hold the combine’s top two all-time marks in the broad jump and are third and fourth all-time in the vertical jump. Bobby McCain of Memphis (3.82 seconds) is third all-time in the 20-yard shuttle drill. UCF's Shaquem Griffin was the story of the 2018 combine thanks to his 4.38 40-yard dash - a record for a linebacker - and 20 reps on the 225-pound bench press.
