American Baseball teams sweep nonconference foes Wednesday

Cincinnati 7, Indiana 5
Cincinnati stormed back to beat Indiana 7-5 Wednesday night thanks to two big at-bats by sophomore Dondrae Bremner. Cincinnati rallied for four runs in the sixth inning, powered by a three-run double from Bremner to put the Bearcats in front 5-4. With the game tied at 5-5 in the eighth, Bremner smashed his first-career home run  to score two and capture the victory for Cincinnati. A.J. Bumpass also finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored. Isaac Olson went 3.0 innings in the start with a career-high four strikeouts. The Bearcats close out their current eight-game homestand by hosting Niagara for a three-game series this weekend.
 
UCF 8, Yale 1
UCF completed a two-game midweek sweep of Yale on Wednesday night with an 8-1 win at John Euliano Park. Matthew Mika (2-for-3) and Dallas Beaver (2-for-5) each hit a double through a two-hit night, backed by UCF’s pitching staff, which held the Bulldogs to seven hits through eight scoreless frames. Starter Jaylyn Whitehead and reliever Zack Hunsicker combined for seven shutout innings, while allowing four hits and no walks. Liam Silvagnoli tossed the final two innings, striking out four. The Knights tallied multiple runs in three innings, including a three-run rally in the fifth, powered by Adams Torres’ two-run RBI single. Tyler Osik increased his on-base steak to a career-long 15 games. UCF will face VCU this weekend for a three-game series.
 
USF 7, Bethune-Cookman 4 (10)
Joe Genord and Tyler Dietrich each hit two-run homers in the 10th inning, as USF defeated Bethune-Cookman 7-4 on the road Wednesday. Genord ended the night 4-for-5, while Kyle Phillips (2-for-5) and Dylan Buck (2-for-4) joined him with multi-hit performances. Trailing through the first five innings, the Bulls rallied for three in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3 after Buck plated two on an RBI single. Nelson Alvarez struck out seven through the final 2.1 innings, scattering a run on one hit and a walk to earn his third win of the season. The Bulls welcome Dartmouth for a three-game series this weekend.
