American Athletic Conference Golf Weekly Honors: March 20

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly men's and women's golf honors for the fifth week of the spring golf season.

MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Noah Goodwin - SMU - So. - Corinth, Texas
Goodwin battled the elements and field of 106 other golfers as wind gusts of 20 mph in the first round and sleet throughout the final round made it an extremely challenging event at Bandon Dunnes. Despite the weather and competition, the sophomore tied for sixth overall and led SMU to a sixth-place finish as they bested 11 other programs. Goodwin went 73-71-73 for a 1-over 216. It was the second tournament in a row in which Goodwin has placed in the top-10 as he tied for third in last week's Tiger Invitational. Thanks to the performance, he moved up to 29 in the latest Golfstat rankings, helping SMU to a No. 17 spot in the latest top-25.

WOMEN'S GOLF PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Brigitte Dunne - SMU - Sr. - Camarillo, Calif.
Dunne led the Mustangs to a win Dr. Thompson Invitational as tied for second overall in a field of 75 golfers. The senior carded a 3-over, 219 (75, 74, 70) as she improved each round on the course. SMU tied for the overall team win with No. 2 Texas. Dunne is now the leader in career birdies for the Mustangs. She has carded 324 in her career thus far. Additionally, she is tied for third all-time for eagles in a season as Dunne already boasts two this year. It is the most for SMU since 1994.

Leonie Harm - Houston - Sr. - Gerlingen, Germany
Harm fired a 68 in the final round at the Clover Cup to tie for medalist honors and capture the third individual title of her career. The senior fueled a strong Houston last round as the Cougars posted their low round of the tournament at 286 and surged into second place, trailing only team champion USC (876, 12). Harm opened the tournament with a 71 in the first round. The Cougars are now at No. 25 in latest Golfstat team rankings while Harm moved to No. 9 in the individual rankings.

SMU Freshman Noah Goodwin and Junior Jackson Markham finished tied for sixth at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday afternoon. The Mustangs finished sixth overall ... Cincinnati senior Austin Squires had the low round on the day as the Bearcats earned a top-five finish at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla ... Playing in the toughest field in college golf, USF's Albin Bergstrom tied for 21st place at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational ... UCF wrapped up the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular Sunday taking second place with a third-round score of 292, for a 54-hole score of 861(-3) ... Wichita State's Yannik Emmert finished off the GCU Invitational with his seventh top 10 finish of his career. The senior capped off his final round with a 73, allowing him to finish with a 208 54-hole score. Emmert set a new season low for a 54-hole score while obtaining a new season-low for an 18-hole score in the first round with a 67 ... Houston junior Logan Young posted a score of 215 to lead the Cougars and tie for 37that the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club.


SMU won the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational alongside No. 2 Texas on at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course in Hawaii ... Cincinnati competed at the Notre Dame Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Club with a third-round score of 318 to finish 14th in the highly-competitive tournament ... Houston bettered its second-round score by 14 shots and posted the tournament's low round of the day to finish second with a score of 892 and second overall ... Memphis finished fifth at the Valspar Augusta Invitational as the Lady Tigers fired a 298 ( 10) in the final round and finished five strokes behind Charlotte ... Seniors Jacqueline Twitty and Natalia Villavicencio both placed in the top 25 while USF posted another top-10 finish at the Valspar Augusta Invitational on Sunday ... ECU Sophomore Kathryn Carson shot an even-par 216 claiming a share of 10th place at the 2019 Briar's Creek Invitational Tuesday ... Tulsa freshman sensation Lorena Tseng had her fifth top-five finish in eight tournaments this season as she finished in third-place at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate.
