Cincinnati's Borzillo, Nause; Florida's Kavanagh, Hicklen Earn Weekly Lacrosse Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s lacrosse honors, for the week ending Monday, March 25.
 
Attacker of the Week
Monica Borzillo * Jr. * Cincinnati

Borzillo poured in 10 goals along with four assists for 14 points in a pair of Cincinnati wins last week. In the Bearcats’ key 17-11 victory over San Diego State on Friday, she scored four goals including a free position score, while recording an assist, three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Two days later, Borzillo tied her own single-game program record with six goals against Gardner-Webb, assisting on three other scores to finish with nine points. Her all-around impact again included three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers en route to Cincinnati’s 22-9 win. On the year, Borzillo ranks fourth nationally with 59 points and 5.90 points per game.
 
Midfielder of the Week
Shannon Kavanagh * So. * Florida
Kavanagh has now raked in three-straight Midfielder of the Week honors after posting eight goals, 10 draw controls and four ground balls against a pair of top 20 opponents last week. In Florida’s narrow 11-13 loss to No. 9 Princeton, she posted her fifth hat trick of the season while collecting four draw controls. Kavanagh then pushed Florida over the top against No. 17 Stony Brook, netting a game-high five goals including back-to-back scores to put the Gators ahead for good. She finished with two ground balls and six draw controls in Florida’s 11-10 victory. Kavanagh sits just two points away from 100 on her career as a sophomore.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Haley Hicklen * Sr. * GK * Florida

Hicklen backstopped Florida to an 11-10 win over No. 17 Stony Brook on Saturday, falling just one save short of her career-high with 15 stops. The performance followed a seven-save outing for the senior on Tuesday against No. 9 Princeton. For the week, Hicklen posted a .489 save percentage and 11.50 goals against average, and she leads the conference in both save percentage (.455) and saves per game (10.20).
 
Freshman of the Week
Kylie Nause * M * Cincinnati

Nause registered her third- and fourth-straight hat tricks in Cincinnati’s 2-0 week, amassing seven goals and two assists for nine points. In the Bearcats’ 17-11 win over San Diego State, she scored three times with an assist, collecting three ground balls and a draw control while causing three turnovers. Nause then posted four goals and an assist against Gardner-Webb as the Bearcats cruised to a 22-9 win. The midfielder has now earned a conference-best three Freshman of the Week nods this season.
