ECU 9, Campbell 4; Campbell 10, ECU 2
ECU wrapped up its homestand with a doubleheader split against Campbell Wednesday at the ECU Softball Stadium, downing the Camels 9-4 in game one before dropping the nightcap 10-2 in five innings.
Tyler King went 4-for-4 in the opening contest and added a hit in the second game to extend her hitting streak to 13 games. Rachel McCollum was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while Ashley Weingartz was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the victory. Morgan Halo and Abigail Umphlett accounted for the Pirates' two RBI in the latter game. Erin Poepping tossed her eighth complete game of the season in the game one win, allowing four runs on 10 hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Whitney Sanford took the loss in game two after giving up eight runs (one earned) on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.
Memphis 1, Central Arkansas 0
Regan Hadley's RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth inning proved to be the difference in the game as Memphis pulled away with a 1-0 victory over Central Arkansas Wednesday afternoon. There were a combined eight hits in the contest, led by Memphis' five. In addition to Hadley, Gracie Morton, Sara Ann Davidson, Ryleigh Aungst, and Jessie Lamb all tallied hits in the win.
Mariah Nichols earned the start against the Sugar Bears and went 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. She earned the victory and improved to 3-4 overall while Bayleigh Wisher was credited with her second save of the season.
USF 5, Central Michigan 0; USF 7, Furman 1
USF tallied 17 hits in two games when it shut out Central Michigan 5-0 and took down Furman 7-1 in a doubleheader Wednesday night. Lindsey Devitt tallied three runs after going 5-for-7 through both games, and Bethaney Keen recorded two multiple RBI games when she drove in six runners total throughout the night.
In the opener, Nicole Doyle earned the win for USF and improved her record to 3-6 after tossing five innings and limited the Chippewas to two hits with just one walk. Cheyenne Eggens entered in relief and fanned four batters in two innings to preserve the shutout. Against Furman, Eggens, Doyle and Georgina Corrick all saw time in the circle, with Eggens earned her second win of the season. Eggens pitched four innings allowing just three hits and one walk, and Corrick tossed 2.2 innings to earn the save while striking out seven.
UCF 4, Boston College 1
Behind the bat of Cassady Brewer, the UCF capped off its homestand with a 4-1 win over Boston College on Wednesday evening. Brewer was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk to bring in three runs. Alea White got the start and the win in the circle to improve her record to 8-5. White tossed 6.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts and allowed five hits before Breanna Vasquez picked up the save after coming in for the final two outs.
Oklahoma State 3, Wichita State 0
Wichita State saw its five-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as the Shockers fell 3-0 on the road at Oklahoma State. Wichita State was held to six singles by six different players, while Caitlin Bingham took the loss in the circle after allowing two runs on two hits with five walks in 2.2 innings. In addition to the five-game winning streak being snapped, the Shockers’ run of four straight wins over Oklahoma State also came to an end.
